For people that had Non-factory A/C cars, what else on the engine did you have to change? It looks like I have to swap out to a 4 groove crank pulley, 2 groove water pump pulley and 2 groove alternator pulley as well as buy the compressor/alternator mounting bracket kit to work with the power steering setup (kit 161002, $249). This is for the Vintage Air kit.

Good info, thanks to all who responded. I'm adding A/C to my Javelin and am going with Vintage air . Seems better quality to me? I also like how I can buy individual components as I need them .  :alan2cents:

@Challenger in NC - Are you looking at the Sure-Fit Gen IV Complete kit? It comes with everything needed to install... I have 2 groove crank pulley, single groove water pump pulley, and 2 groove alternator pulley that uses only 1 of them. One of the crank pulley grooves drives the power steering pump. The brackets for compressor come with the kit... I had to buy a different alternator belt as that goes over the compressor pulley now, too... 56-1/2 inches, I believe...

Not trying to hijack this thread, but it may help someone with same set up I have.
My question is, I have an A/C car, and all the components inside the car are new and I would like to keep them.
I dont have anything in the engine bay, so which one would be better to use if you only want all new components in engine and keep everything inside car?

@73_Cuda_4_Me  Yes, that would be the one. I thought that their kit required different pulley's for spacing purposes and maybe because of power steering but if you are saying that it works with the 2 groove crank, single groove water pump and single groove alternator pulley, that would be great. Do you have power steering on your car? I have a Saginaw style ps pump so I thought kit 161002 was required. It may be worth a call to their tech support line to confirm.

I do have power steering, and pulley use is as I stated, but my kit was for the small block 340... so maybe a call to tech support would be in order for the big block kit requirements.

@Fern
Both companies offer individual under hood components that can be purchased.

Yea...I can't comment on any of the under hood stuff unfortunately, The Classic Air system I installed went on a 340, but the owner purchased one of those crazy MARCH serpentine belt systems, and the Vintage Air system is going on a 392 Hemi. In both cases I had to custom make the lines/hoses etc...

Not that Vintage needs another vote, but I have been very happy with mine.

Don't underestimate the value of proper insulation, tint and air sealing. 108* outside, 80* inside, 37* vent temps.

You could just move up here to northwestern Ontario and not bother with the A/C.....cruise with the windows down.....

Hi,

Have a 1971 340 Cuda thinking about putting a Vintage A/C system.    Came no A/C from factory.   Temps here are not that bad...

Could someone share pics to see how it all looks inside the cabin and hood pls?
Any e body Cuda to have an idea will be appreciated.

I wouldn't mind seeing "final installed" pics on a finished car myself.
