I finally got out into the garage once the kids all left and torqued the heads the last step to 110 lb/ft and I've got to tell you that it felt a bit weird, but it held and I got her done. Then I started trying to install the rocker arm assemblies. I found and lubed/installed the new pushrods and then assembled the one rocker arm the shop I'd bought them from, hadn't, and then tried it on the head. There's a bit of sideplay in the rocker arm side to side fit and there's a bit of adjustment to be gained in the holdowns and their mountings, but it looked like I'd need to install a couple of the thin shims that came with the set, so I pulled the assembly apart and found the villains hadn't washed off any of the old cosmoline, and I ended up taking the whole kit and kaboodle apart and cleaning and re-lubing it. Whilst re-assembling it, I found the cause for the "spare" washer that was in the box; it went under the head of one of the holdown bolts, so all's well.....there. Interesting holding/positioning the push rods while trying to tighten down the shaft and it only took about 8 tightening cycles to get the shafts to lay down and play nice. Got the new oil pump drive gear/shaft in and it only took 2 re-locations to get the SOB to have the rotor point at #1 intake bolt. At this point my daughter called and told me the /ford dealer had made an estimate to fix her 2019 Explorer's lft rear brake and it was for $1400!!, so daddy's junk got pushed to one side, literally, and her crate got dropped off the tow truck and in. Who knows when the Dodge will regain primacy? "Yes, thank you, I WILL have another beer"

Put the new hood on. I think it lined up ok. What's the best way to get this double sided tape residue off? I was thinking denatured alcohol.

I need the vent inserts now. I didn't realize they didn't come with.  they are not cheap either. :pullinghair:

Try WD 40 for the tape residue

@jimynick has been entertaining us with the trials and triumphs of engines building. If it runs as good as it looks it's going be a resounding success.

"I like those water pump/timing chain cover bolts !"  LOL and so you should Alan! Thx again. This was just a mock-up where I set on the intake and valve covers to see what it'll look like and I think it'll be ok. Eagle eyed Murray saw the replacement, un-painted bolt and there's some blue gasket hanging out a wee bit, along with the Right Stuff squishing out here and there, so maybe I'll get another can of paint and do a "factory" style paint job on the whole damn thing (less the valve covers, of course). Before I played Mr. Dressup, I asked around and searched the web for advice on setting the valves and then spent a while actually doing it and they've all got a 1/2 turn preload on them at this time. The new intake manifold bolts that I was looking forward to using, turned out to be too short @ 1.125" long and with the supplied washers, left about 1/8-3/16ths of bolt engagement and that ain't going to cut it. The bolts were listed as correct for the engine, so WTF? Strangely enough, Edelbrock lists a 1.75" bolt, so why would these other wankers go with 1.125" Jesus! I can't find the right angle filter adapter I thought I had either, and looking at what people are asking for used ones will probably steer me to a shorty filter as well. Not that I've been screwing the pooch for years before doing this, but the "new" valve covers came out of their box wrapped in 1997 LA Times pages! LOL   I just realized that the oil pump drive shaft that I've spent so much time to get right, will have to come out, so I can prime the engine with the primer shaft I bought for that very purpose.  :unbelievable:  Anybody got a source for the 1/4 turn oil fill caps in the valve covers? I'll make a separate post in parts wanted as well.

@jimynick We just got back yesterday. I just looked for them and couldn't find them. I sold a bunch of miscellaneous parts to Josee. Maybe she still had them. Check with Doug.

How much are you asking? got pics?

@MurderFish73440 here are some pics. I have all four pieces, the liners are a bit beat up but useable.

I would take 100 bucks plus shipping.

Thanks but I found some new ones at a good price.

Nice cars!  The rear tire on the Cuda looks huge, what are the details?

Had to replace the starter in the 74 Charger today. I've been test starting/running the engine and having no problems. Then, the starter just went click after turning the engine off after a short run. Checked battery connections, starter relay and connections and starter connections. All good. Decided to replace the starter with a date coded one I had on the shelf that was rebuilt by a local guy. Problem solved. Now, I have to figure out why the new fuel pump is not delivering fuel.

one bad fish

I loaded my Cuda into my enclosed trailer yesterday. Took it for a spin around the block before doing so. I had the car at my mother's in her garage. Since her passing, my sister and I have sold the estate, so now I don't have a garage until I get one built...I need to re-jet this thing coming from Calgary (3500 feet) to Ottawa area. So much going on moving here from Calgary. I called for insurance on my Cuda (appraisal at 137 grand) 1600 dollars here in Quebec. It was 640 in Alberta. Quebec is a rip off! Ad don't mention plates...probably another 800 bucks. My Dodge 3500 was 1700 bucks to plate and insure compared to 700 bucks in Alberta. Why did I move here again??? LOL.
