Nice.

I took the wee man to school in the old beast today.

Tool the long way home and rolled the trip odometer over 500 miles.

I know it's not much, but I cannot remember the last time I put that many miles on the old beast in a year.

My recent trip to mountains and driving in 95+ stop and go traffic for hours caused a blockage in the tank vent system.
Did some research and blockage is at the tank with its 4 corner outlet tubes or in the bulkhead canister they connect to.
Unfortunately between exhaust, sway bar and current Fuel pump setup, the tank has to be dropped out. SMH.
Temporary "fix" is to use old gas cap that no longer seals as the vent.
Just need to avoid hard left turns with a full tank.

Finally getting around to removing everything to install the new Mancini aluminum water pump housing and water pump along with the CVF pulley system.

Got to thinking about the ATI harmonic balancer have on hand that would be a good time to replace whats on now , but was wondering if it will cause a balance issue as I see what looks like two balance holes in the balancer now, or am I wrong about those being balance holes ?

And maybe while all the room there now , open the timing cover, replace the timing chain and while thats open put a new Lunati cam in and while thats being done put new Trick Flow heads on ...

But really the question is can the ATI balancer be put on without having to rebalance anything ?

Chryco Psycho

The thin balancer is neutral balance so as long as the replacement is the same you are good to go , the holes in the factory one probably created a neutral balance in the factory damper & do not affect the crank balance .
Sure do the cam & chain now too just mke sure you degree the cam in

Thank you, Chryco !

Probably just check and if needed do the timing chain set at this time.

Chryco Psycho

Easy to check , just turn the damper clockwise & counter clockwise to see how much play is in there .

It was a nice day so I decided to roll the car outside into the sun.Pulled the valve covers to inspect rockers and watch for oil as I prime the oil pump. Hope to be able to start run the motor later this week.

Thanks Murray; I didn't realize you'd taken that photo, but it's a good one nonetheless. Good thing the cars were shut off or otherwise my oil leaked on header smoke might have ruined the pic! That was a funky place and the owner Paul's '57 Belair with a 383 in it just jived right in with our cars.

Spent the weekend rebuilding and painting the driveshaft, set front and rear u-joint angles, filled the transmission with fluid, and did final assembly of the rear sway bar.

Thanks! White paint is a holdover from my racing days. Thought I'd jazz it up a bit with the script. Couple of Sharpies and ten minutes and there we go. Figure if I ever toss it at the track, they will know who it belongs to that way.
