I'm about to buy a car with a Y13 Dealer Demo code on the broadcast sheet. Not an e-body, but another FM3 mopar (more to come on that).  Besides the obvious that the car was built for the purpose of being used by the dealer, what would be the physical difference between a Y13 car and a Y05 car with exactly the same fender tag codes? Seems like there would be a reason for a special Y code except for pricing perhaps....

Y05  was built to USA specifications
Y13 was a designated Dealer demo car

Thanks 340challconvert, but I know how to translate the codes. In my case the tag and broadcast sheet both have Y07 (built to canadian specs) and the broadcast sheet has an additional Y13 (dealer demo). I wonder what is physically different about a dealer demo? Probably nothing. Probably just a way to flag the order type.

I think the only difference in the Y13 cars is the manner in which Chrysler Corp. handled the billing/financing terms & possibly scheduling

Dealer demos were typically loaded up with special options in showing potential customers what they could order on their own cars.
They usually came with unusual combinations; black car w orange striping, 6pk cars (those special red Challenger convertibles w red interiors come to mind).
Power everything, usually a dealer's concept of what would be enticing to a buyer.

Didn't the dealers spec out their own demo cars?

I would think it was possible for someone to order a similar car on their own, may be even encouraged by what they saw on a dealer's demo.

Check out this Hot Rod article on a Challenger demo.

In addition to being loaded with special options, I wonder if these cars were pulled aside like a special order car.  There can't be too many of them.

Okay, now for all of you super sleuth code breakers, who can give a definition for each of those codes from "Y11" onward through "Y97"??  :notsure:
Cheers!

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

This is what I am bringing home tomorrow. No just the tag .........
It is a Y13 car, but would you call it highly optioned? Power steering, power disk brakes, power top, fender mounted turn signals.  Wish it had AC, power windows and something better than an AM radio. I should be happy enough that it's quite rare.

I think so too.  And it's about an hour from where you are.  Too bad I won't get a chance to swing by and show you on my way back to Vermont.
