70 Challenger, should it be 2 speed or 3? Or could it have been either?

Thanks

Dan

All R/T's come with Rallye gauges and all Rallye gauges come with the 3 speed motor.

Challenger, A66 Challenger and Challenger TA all come with the standard dash and have a 2 speed wiper, but you can order the optional three speed wiper.

Does that help?

Thanks Morty, yes that helps. I thought I had a motor but I can't find it anywhere, searched both sheds high and low! I also thought it was 3 speed but when I started looking for replacements I saw a lot of 2 speeds for sale. Mine is RT/Rallye gauges so now  I know I need a 3 speed.

Thanks heaps.

As you probably know the linkage is different between the two motors so they don't interchange unless you replace wiper mechanism.  What year do you have?

In Australia do they have to wipe from left to right instead of right to left ?
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Since it rains from the ground up to the sky I don't even know why you need a wiper motor  :dunno:

Thanks for that tip. I did not know.

Mine is 70 RT U code- I brought it about 12 years ago. It had been siting for 20 years prior to that. Someone had started stripping it for a resto so there where bits and pieces everywhere.

I was initially going to fully restore it, since then life got in the way. I shifted house and the car went into storage for a some time.
I have since realized both time and money are too scarce for me to fully restore so I am doing the essentials only to put it on the road and enjoy it while my kids are still young and enthusiastic about it!
The worst bit about buying a car partly dismantled and then shifting it, storing it, shifting, etc -its a bit hard to know what was missing when I purchased it or if I have misplaced things along the way!

anlauto- in my state (and I think most others in Aus) if the car is over 25 years old it can stay completely original which is great. Later model imports have to be converted to RHD.  :australia:

morty- Currently it doesn't rain in any direction! I agree, no wipers should be required!  :australia:

Most of us know the pain of buying a car that someone else took apart

RUNCHARGER

Yes: I did two in a row. I had two 20 foot containers and one pup trailer filled with various E-body parts there for awhile. Then bought lots of other parts before finding the originals.
