It's all about the tremec input shaft bearing not being able to handle side loads.

It will also void your warranty so it's double trouble.

Thank you @Blake@diyhemi.com  that helps a lot of people that have not done that before.   :clapping:

This website explains the theory for bellhousing run out. Pardon my brief response, but they do a good job covering the information.

Here is a great video by American Powertrain. Remember, the Chrysler dowel pins need to have the adjustment side facing the engine instead of toward the transmission.

Check this out, a T56 with offset shifter to fit in the E-body factory location!

Jamie said I'm "at least 12 months away", which is what he has said the last couple years.

I'm getting a quote from SST for the TKO and T56 trans kit.  I hate cutting on my Cuda though and I suck at fabrication.   :wrenching:

I know a guy

For anyone who has experience with a 4 spd OD, how do you like the gear splits (2.66 - 1.59 - 1.00 - .80)?  My fear is the drop between gears is far greater than stock 833 and causing engine bogging.

RUNCHARGER

It depends on the engine. The stock Chrysler OD from the 70's was awful but the ones I drove were 318's of course. I've driven a few of the Passon OD setups and I thought they were just fine but they were behind a 426 Hemi and a 572 Hemi. I think they would work well with even a stock 440 and definetly fine with a stroker built for torque. I have no experience with one behind a 340 with a more than stock cam, I believe that setup might find the gear spread a bit wide.
The first 3 gears are the same as a torqueflite but without the torque convertor to help at low revs,

I have the 4 spd OD behind a 440, and I love it. I would have preferred Jamie's 5 spd, but couldn't wait. I had a 340 GTS years ago and wouldn't hesitate to put the OD behind a 340. 340 lbs/ft is plenty to handle the gear spread.

Thank you @RUNCHARGER and @twenty mike mike.  I'm going to go with Jamie's 4 spd OD and then swap it if/when he reaches my number for the 855.   :slapme5:

RUNCHARGER

I swapped an OD4 into this one last year. We thought we would do that and then install the 855 when we could get one. The 4 speed isn't coming out though it works great and a 5 speed would just be another gear to shift.

with torque the wide ratio is no issue most of my ars over the last 20 years have run the truck 833 OD with 3.09 1st & .71 OD which is even wider spread
