Quote from: blown motor on August 01, 2025, 08:14:07 PMI hope the engine is ok for sure. But if it isn't there's a 360 sitting on a stand in your town and you know who's it is. Now prying it away from the old geser might take more than a little scotch.  :haha:
I'll have you know Murray, that "geser" is spelled geezer! Jason, make sure you clean all that schmutz off the walls of that freeze plug hole and use a coat of sealant when you hammer it home. If you didn't already know, a big socket on a 1/2" extension can be a good driver if you have a clean shot at it. I think I'd change that oil after it's experiences, too. Good luck!

Well. I do not like the sound of that.

Sounds like its coming from underneath the car.

Well crap... You win some, you lose some. This one you lost, or did you?

You did mention something about wanting a new motor....  :)

No not yet.

So fired it up today and sounds ok. It has had a history of a lifter tick when sitting for a while. I was hopeful it was that. But it sounded bad yesterday.

I took it out for a spin, it is popping when you get on it...think in will check the plugs next. Wonder if I burnt some valves?

Of course, it is set up to run a spacer, no spacer right now so that could be making it lean and poping.

 :fingerscrossed:
My uncle drove his 63 Dart with a /6 to my house from Coboconk to Barrie ( about 1 h 15 min) with the water pump out of it and no coolant when it arrived? I swapped out a new water pump added coolant and it was fine.

I would drop the oil and inspect and cut open the oil filter and have a look....

Thats wild.

I think I found the cause of the popping, one spark plug wire was off...not sure how that happened.  The plugs all look fine.

I think I am going to change the oil and filter, put new plugs in it (ther have been in it for a while), put a space back on it, and drive it for the rest of the summer.

Is there any particular type of oil that would be best to use after that much heat ?

That is the plan if the motor is in fact hurt.

Did you do a post on your Gen 3 build.

Well, good news, new plugs, new oil, fresh water ( ::) ) and it looks like the old girl is going to be ok.

I just took it out for a spin and it made it home with no issues.

The carb needs a little tunning I think because the spacer is not on it, bout other than that it ran fine.

The AFR meter shows a little bouncing to lean at idle, but I think that is just tuning.  I am going to retighten the carb and see what happens.  no GEN 3 hemi for the moment.

Good to hear it seems to have survived. Definitely get a spacer back on it to mitigate heat issues.
For added piece of mind, I would remove valve covers and check torque on the head bolts.
