Unlike others that just trim the broken area of the floor vent that is always broken off, I was at his shop and watched him fix one start to finish, he got the brown color correct with the fiber hairs, amazing!

FYI, it doesn't look like that in the kit. It is a strip that is about 12" long, 3/4" wide with 6 or so groves in it that have to be separated

Found this picture on DMT's website, and checked a kit I just purchased at Carlisle....it seems he still uses the same caulk he's always had 

I would give him a call and see if he'll sell you a pack if you can't find a similar substitute at the hardware store as mentioned

Search for his powder coating thread it's amazing, he's figured out how to take the restoration process to a totally different level.  He's very quiet about his shop, the guy will help anyone, he told me he interviews his customers before he will consider their car, who does that?  The guy doesn't look for work, he's done a pile of jobs on parts for customers working on their own car.  Mike told me he was banned from this sight for not "playing well with others", actually, it was only one guy, after reading all the history, I can't blame him.

I'm a bit of a ways away from being ready, but eventually I know I will be giving Mike a call when the time comes.   a lot of the finer details of putting these cars together will be lost on me, as my car was missing a bunch of stuff before I bought it.   Like the body trim that will go between the 2 paint colors, figuring out how and where to place the holes.   Best way to restore/refresh the tail lights.  stuff like that.   

but as you can tell... It's got a long way to go...

We lost more than that over that, three or four that I can think of off the top of my head!

I agree with everything Skidmark and Cody said.  I rebuilt mine several years ago and it's relatively easy and as stated DMT sends easy to understand instructions.  And if you get stuck just ask for help here.  As with any part of the restoration take numerous pics before and during the tear down and when you think you have enough pics take a dozen more from different angles.  Like Cody stated, when done spray the case with a matt clear and it will look like new.  I have several pics of my tear down and restoration if you want to wade through my restoration thread.  One obvious tip, when you get ready to install it back on the firewall and put the blower motor through the firewall, cover the newly painted motor with painters tape so you don't chip it.  Good Luck.

Great info and pictures. What is the best way to test the blower motor out of the box? Also, Is there a replacement blower motor available for the non AC box?

Two wires coming out of the motor, just hold them across a battery  No accurate looking replacement motors available that I know of

Runs strong, but sounds like I need to lube the bearing. Anyone ever lubed one of these blower motors fan bearings?

Before my recent re build, it ran noisy as well.
Turns out the guts unside were going bad really quick.
