#8 spark plug fouled? Lifter setup incorrectly on #8? #8 wire like I said eariler?

Man that is pretty darn good and if you have good components/balanced I would take her up to 6k.

This way you can see the exact spot where the drop off occurs. The point of diminishing returns.

Let me be the first to say that I got the phone call no vendor ever wants. Cody found the problem to be something I missed in the carburetor restoration. A passageway in one of his end carb metering plates was found to be clogged with hard varnish that my cleaning job did not remove and that I somehow missed upon visual inspection while assembling them. The passageway was only partially blocked which might explain why the issue did not become apparent during the mule engine test run, it only showed up when Cody had them on his engine under load. Of course this was a human error issue that is all on me, and of course one that my warranty covers. Still, while Cody and I have come to a resolution we can both live with, I feel horrible to have him go through what he did in discovering the issue at his end.
:sorry:

Scott, thank you for taking the time to post about our conversation.  I felt it was only fair I talked to you first before I posted what I had found.  Nobody is perfect and we have all made mistakes in our lives.  I plan to continue using you as my Carburetor restorer.      :handshake:

That's pretty cool of you Scott! You have my respect. We all make mistakes , it's how we own them that separates the man from the boys.
I always strive to admit when I'm wrong or make a mistake whether its mechanical, business, marriage or what ever. We are all imperfect works in progress!  ;)

What the ...... You are not perfect Scott  :Thud:
I was going to list fuel starvation & there should have been a corrisponding increase in heat as it leaned out .
But I assumed the carbs would be good as Scott had done them .
All good no damage to the reputation Scott no one is perfect & you stand behind your work .
No problem in my books  :bradsthumb:

Wow talk about going lean on #8, glad you got it worked out.

That 340 still has some legs left in her, any pulls to 6k in the works?

Would have been a tough problem to solve without the dyno help.  Always a good idea if you can.  :alan2cents:

We only went to 5,500 once.  It was making good power, but we did not go any higher.  I'm happy with where the numbers are and as long as it's running and she'll be a fun car to drive.   :stayinlane:

poo happens, its part of life. as someone else stated, its how its handled after the fact that separates the men from the boys and in my opinion, the words spoken have done nothing but increase your reputation as a stand up guy whom I would go to any day.  :bigthumb:    :drinkingbud:
Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
