new clutch

Wanting recommendations for a new clutch setup . I have a 73 Challenger with a 833 trans. 360 motor .Small cam and headers .

You will have a 130 tooth flywheel & there are 10.5 & 10.95" clutches available for that , there is no reason not to use the better 10.95.
You also have 2 types of clutches , 3 finger B&B which is what the factory used or diaphragm , personally I hate the diaphragm type , they have a funny release  kind of snapping engaged near the top of the pedal travel where the 3 finger are an even release & don't work well with the original linkage  .
Personally I have used McLeod in everything but there is also Ram & Zoom & others .

I recently installed my second Centerforce Dual friction. The first one lasted 20+ years of abuse on the street and strip behind my mild (maybe 325-350hp) 340 and never slipped or chattered till it finally just gave out.

The centerforce dual friction clutch is a good all around type clutch.  For a mild ride, I wouldn't hesitate to run one.

First thing to do is decide what "clutch pedal feel" you're after.

The Borg & Beck style 3 finger clutch gives you a nice firm pedal that will be harder to push over all... Several manufactures still make this OE style. Mainly  RAM, McLeod, etc... as mentioned above by Chryco Psycho

Then there is the diaphragm style which has multiple fingers to disperse the pedal pressure...this gives you a much easier pedal to push, a lot of people prefer the "easier" pedal, but a lot more people complain about them being too soft with not enough pedal "feel" and the pedal can stick to the floor when power shifting...when installing one of these you MUST  remove the clutch pedal over center spring from inside the car.
Again, several manufactures including the above mentioned Centerforce, McLeod etc...

The choice is yours...old style firm feel, or new style easy feel  :dunno:

I have had terrible results with Centerforce , some staying on the floor with high rpm shifts & some lasting less than a weekend .

I put hundreds of 1/4 mile runs powershifting mine at 7,000 rpm with zero issues.

I wonder if the guys having issues with the center force need to have their clutch linkage adjusted ; maybe they're over-stroking/over extending the clutch; or it's not fully releasing when the pedal is up causing a reduction in grip and slippage. 

Mine lasted several years in a 4200 lb Dakota with a 535 ft lb/505 hp big block.   All the way until I parted the truck out to get into something else.

No, I bought the car with the clutch already in it, Who ever installed did not remove it. I plan to put a three finger style back in it.

No, I bought the car with the clutch already in it, Who ever installed did not remove it. I plan to put a three finger style back in it.

That is why it sticks to the floor.
