That car really looks good. I like the way it is sitting in that photo.

cam440

sounds killer nearly same cam im running but not as much lift would love to hear it idle

Similar build to mine.  Also, 440 source 512 stroker, but running a Lunati hydraulic cam 234/242 at .050 and lift is .512/.533.  ProMaxx (formerly Patriot) aluminum heads with the Holley single plane intake and a quick fuel 880 CFM carb.  TTI 1 7/8" headers into a TTI 3" exhaust with Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers.  Sounds absolute wicked or as one person said "Raunchy."  However, I'm running the 4 speed with a Dana 60 4:10.  Like you said it's a beast on the street and full throttle in any gear lites up the back tires.   :iagree: :stayinlane:  Too bad you didn't get an accurate dyno reading.  I was curious as to what you would make.

cam440

yeah mines 493 eagle kit , rpm eddys , comp rockers , holley street dom , hughes flat tappet  cam 242/246 on 108 lobe with 563/573 lift , 850 dp holley , 4 speed , tti exhaust etc ,haven't started it yet just keen to hear how its gonna sound and perform

How are the 4.10s on the street? I still have the stock 8-3/4 with 3.23s behind my 512, need to find Dana.

You are happy with your super turbos? I think mine are way too quiet ha. I put in cutouts but might still change mufflers.

My 505 in the Charger has a  Lunati 60312 Hyd Roller Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 231/239, Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .535/.550, LSA/ICL: 110/106, RPM Range: 2200-6200, Edelbrock 60929 heads, Street Dom intake with a new Holley Sniper set up and TTI 1 7/8 into 3" H-pipe with Super Turbos.  With the Sniper, although the Proform 850 was close on hp and tq, it ran 441 hp and 530 tq at the wheels.

The 4:10s are a bit much on the street.  Driving any distance on the freeway is out.  I'm in 4th gear by 40 MPH when just cruising.  I'm thinking of changing to 3:55s or 3:23s next summer.  I love the sound of the super turbos.  True muscle car sound.

70Barracuda

I have 3.54 and a 30 inch tire.  First is almost useless w my mild 493
Sniper, 493/383, Firmfeel, RMS Streetlynx, Speedhut. Dana, 4 gear.

I have the same cam but in a 451 and have low vacuum like 6 at idle in gear ( automatic) You seemed to have pretty good luck with the Holley  Sniper set up. Did it require much tuning to get it to idle? I'm curious as from what I've read these new self learning FI Systems require at least 10" of vacuum to run right? I'm sitting on the fence about converting...?

It was pretty much dead on out of the box.  The idle is set at 900 RPM and timing is 36 degrees all in.  Other than that the only tweak we did was bump the base fuel table at idle to prevent the engine from dying when pressing in the clutch pedal and coming to a stop, which is a known issue. I have heard a couple guys in the Holley forums with 6-7" vacuum say the Sniper self-learns and runs great.  You can still get it to work below 6" vacuum with the new Sniper software, but may need a laptop to program it.

Your 505 is idling at 900 rpms? My 512 I couldn't get below around 1100 otherwise it would bog down and die. Might need to mess with some settings, it seems to be idling a little fast for my liking.

RUNCHARGER

1100 is really high unless you have the Don Garlits edition camshaft.

I have the same lunati cam as 303 Mopar and Brads70. When it was initially being timed, any lower and it wanted to stall out. Any ideas what could be off?

gravyboy

I haven't checked in for a month but have been studying Holley tuning. My engine idles sweet at 800 rpm ( lumpy ) and with the AED 850 annular the off idle response is awesome. It has no stumble and picks up revs real quick. Problem is it starts to run lean as you feed in the throttle and revs pick up. If you floor it the A/F drops to about 12.5 ( hard to read gauge while keeping car on the road) but mid throttle I am seeing 19:1 AFR and am worried. The tuner said he took out 'several' jet sizes to get a nice idle and cruise AF ratio ( it cruises at about 14.5 - 15:1 and idles about 13.3 - 14:1 ) I unhooked the secondaries to isolate the primary side to check AF ratios. Still leans out as revs pick up - but still burns out 2nd gear!
Anyway I have a book by David Vizard coming and a vacuum gauge to mount inside so I will try to tune it myself when the stuff gets here.

In the end I got Torq Thrust 2s 18x10 and 18x9 with 275/40 - 18 and 255/40 - 18. Can't wait to fit them...

RUNCHARGER

I bet Psycho can get you pointed in the right direction on the carb tuning. There's more to it than just jet size.
