You could eliminate the dist entirely with a 4 coil pack & A crank trigger

This is very interesting as I always though that the rotor just had to point to the correct plug wire slot to reproduce the timing accuracy when in stalling a new dizzy.

I'll read up on phasing etc...

What kind (brand) of EFI distributor do you have?

I'm using the Holley version to match up the the Holley HP EFI.  As recommeded by Rich at Fastman EFI.

Wow! That's a cool fuel system! Here is a video on the distributor installation procedure for the Holley dual synch distributor. The ignition advance is digital (and programmable) so the rotor doesn't centrifugally advance. The Holley dual synch distributor set up and calibration must be done by carefully following the instructions.

You can do the same with a crank trigger & the advance is all computer controlled & adjustable

Here's a pic of the instruction sheet.  It's a bit more difficult than just stabbing the right spot

Hi Neil! How are you? Crank trigger is a great idea! It separates the ignition pick up from the rotor allowing for even more adjustability, both mechanical and electronic. :bigthumb:

The EFI system I did used a crank trigger , it still had a dist just to take the spark from the coil to the plugs instead of using a 4 coil pack but  the nice part is the crank trigger don't have to be at TDC it just has to know how far away tdc is , we could set the timing diferently every 250 rpm from 500 -7000 rpm +
I am doing great thanks  !! What about you ?

Yes, a little different but not too difficult really. That's a very cool fuel system upgrade! i haven't read the whole install instructions but i suspect it's sequential multi port fuel injection. A quantum leap (maybe two) from carburetors.

Nice! Crank trigger is the most accurate IMO as it takes out all of the fluctuations of the timing chain etc. This Holley "dual synch" distributor with both cam position sensor and crank speed sensor would have some timing inaccuracy do to 1/2 speed of the crankshaft to cam. Just my opinion...
Hi Neil_- Doing fine, just "up to my eyes in alligators" as the saying goes! We Hope to see you at Carlisle, test and tune for anyone who needs it? I'll bring the tools and equipment. LMK  :wrenching:

Chryco Psycho

Sure , I really missed the tuning on Pizza night , Pixie had almost the Only old school carbed car there last year , The other one was Spikedog with the Cuda .
Nothing to do !!
Bring the stuff & it will be done !

Not really in a position to add a crank trigger wth this build. Trying to keep it as simple as possible.  Going over the YouTube video from Holley, it looks doable, just have to find TDC.  By the way, what is the direction of  the crank? Clockwise? You wouldn't believe how a simple google search turns up so much non relevant info when u try.

Chryco Psycho

crank goes clockwise looking at the front of the engine
