The EFI system I did used a crank trigger , it still had a dist just to take the spark from the coil to the plugs instead of using a 4 coil pack but  the nice part is the crank trigger don't have to be at TDC it just has to know how far away tdc is , we could set the timing diferently every 250 rpm from 500 -7000 rpm +
I am doing great thanks  !! What about you ?

Nice! Crank trigger is the most accurate IMO as it takes out all of the fluctuations of the timing chain etc. This Holley "dual synch" distributor with both cam position sensor and crank speed sensor would have some timing inaccuracy do to 1/2 speed of the crankshaft to cam. Just my opinion...
Hi Neil_- Dong fine, just "up to my eyes in alligators" as the saying goes! We Hope to see you at Carlisle, test and tune for anyone who needs it? I'll bring the tools and equipment. LMK  :wrenching:

Not really in a position to add a crank trigger wth this build. Trying to keep it as simple as possible.  Going over the YouTube video from Holley, it looks doable, just have to find TDC.  By the way, what is the direction of  the crank? Clockwise? You wouldn't believe how a simple google search turns up so much non relevant info when u try.

Sorry for the distraction, I hear ya! You already have the dual synch distributor so go ahead and use it. Did you find TDC compression or do you need help? "Placing a thumb over the spark plug hole" doesn't work on this engine...

Thx! Loving the info!

I've had a few strategies given to me.  Any where I don't have to remove the valve covers?

The wooden dowel makes sense, but if there are others...

There is a tool for this, hose with a whistle on the end. You screw in one end of the hose into #1 spark plug hole and turn the crank clockwise. When you hear the whistle, you are on the compression stroke. Align the timing mark with the desired degree mark and that's it!

That device falls into the "why didn't I think of that" category.

Thx!
