I rebuilt the transmission but still having issues getting into second gear sometimes so thinking it may be the shifter is worn, does this kit work for the factory mechanism as well as it is listed as Competition/Plus?

Yes. I'm about to order the same kit.

I have to warn you because I rebuilt mine some time ago. Most folks only rebuild the bottom end of the shifter with the plates. If you do like me and rebuild the whole thing you replace the spring at the top which provides stiffness to the shifter. Meaning it returns to center when you let go of it. Some times it can cause problems going from 1st to 2nd because you have to keep pressure to make it go directly down into the gate. I finally got mine where I wanted it by adjusting the rods but once you do it you will understand what I'm saying.

Just an FYI.

I ended up getting the rebiuld kit threw Brewers and it came with everything including the springs. Works like new now, only around 25 years overdue.
