I fell like I'm driving a '70 muscle car when I have to fill the tank of my 2018 9.1 MPG Wide body Hellcat. :haha: :crying:

I too think the end is near for the traditional gas powered musclecars. It was the same feeling when the 70 HemiCuda came out. Manufacturers were going all in because they knew the great cars would be a memory by 1972.

We can go with alcohol in the future, more power, cheaper gas, no emissions. Just some more fuel consumption, dosen't matter to me...
There is a company here that specialises in building E85 blown V8 engines for muscle cars.

72 Challenger

I was in Toronto visiting my brother and decided to use a car sharing service and got a Fusion Hybrid to drive to Niagara Falls and back. Although I didn't care for the interior, nor would I call it fast, I was blown away at how good it was in stop and go downtown traffic. For a here and there errand runner and stuck in traffic car it was great. Cost me next to nothing in gas.

Hybrid technology has come along way and quickly.
Someday I will have a J0b.

I enjoyed watching the Dodge preview video.   However, it just goes to show you the FCA doesnt give two good shits about the american future of automobiles.   FCA only cares about the Chrysler Pacifica mini van, Ram Trucks and Jeep lineup.   The Dodge Charger and its brother the Chrysler 300 are both built on a 20 year old Mercedes Benz designed overweight chassis.   Nothing new except for more and more HP coming about.    Yes, i like HP, but i also like fuel economy!!   The Challenger continues to outsell the Camaro and close behind the Mustang.   Yes, the HP versions are a big reason, but so is the fact that it is the only one of the 3 that looks very much like the originals, and have a usable back seat.   However, it is built on a shortened version of the same overweight chassis from Mercedes.    NO NEW DEVELOPMENT.    To some extent the NO NEW DEVELOPMENT is a good thing...i.e...if it aint broke dont fix it...  Because there is no new engineering and im sure the tooling costs have been paid for years back, so a new SXT even at the full sticker of $28,095 plus $1,000 for shipping so around $29,000 with its list of full equipment V6/8 sp auto/ std dual zone air conditioning and 8 way power seats, etc is a bargain over a 4 cyl Mustang with auto comes in at $29,765 but doesn't have nearly as much standard equipment as the challenger.   Or a camaro with its base 4 cyl costs more equipt the same..   Neither have a useable rear seat !!

I almost went to my Dodge Dealers to buy a leftover 2019 Challenger SXT...  Heck they were practically giving them away...  local dealer had a 2019 Challenger SXT for $21,980...   $8,000 off of the list price of $29,980...   WOW....   but then looked at an article that listed the Curb weight at 4,057 lbs...(4400 for an RT with the Hemi model)   Heck a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica only weighs a little over 4400 lbs.    What the??    Then i came to the realization that yes, it is a fantastic looking vehicle...but so is my 74 Challenger, and it weighs about 400 lbs less !!   FCA keeps coming out with "new/old" names and more horsepower...   But...  we cant use that much except on the strip..

Those of you who are anxiously awaiting the release of a Cuda Challenger or a redesign of the Challenger with a new lighter weight chassis....   keep waiting...  better chance of meeting the real Santa Claus.    Alas, i feel that the end is near for Charger and Challenger and the Dodge and Chrysler nameplates...  FCA simply doesn't give a shit !!!
