Quote from: chargerdon on June 14, 2025, 04:30:45 AMGot it back from the body shop where a fender bender repair was completed and had the entire car repainted.  FC7 Plum Crazy.   Then started to work on her, body shop wired the LED headlights backwards...fixed that.   Checked all the fluids.

Today ill take her to a Classic car cruise in at a local church !!

Pictures man, we need pictures!  :D

I found the engine was " off" running rich, low on power so I ordered a carb rebuild kit that came in this week, so today I tore it apart and cleaned it all really well. Found a blown/leaking power valve in the primary side and of course the kit does not come with the power valve size I needed.... so parts ordered and I wait. At least the time consuming  part is done. I'll just need to pull off the bowls when the parts arrive.... After I took the pictures I cleaned up the engine bay some, lots of body shop dust from the repaint last summer.

Proved Friday that all the recent miles were not just for the enjoyment of it.
The new starter hiccuped slightly when leaving work. Then much worse leaving show later. When turning key to crank, volt guage would peg zero like there was a direct short. Kept trying for about a minute because I was stuck where I could not do anything to it.
Finally it clicked and started. Was able to drive it home.
Saturday is pic. Replaced mini starter with original style I already had and it fired up without issue.
Unfortunately it is much closer to the down pipe. So I added heat wrap to help.
Father's day present to me will not be touching it...

Quite the incline on your driveway. That's a challenge at times I bet.

Darn these modern parts sure put an unneeded extra challenge to building cars. Over and over I see new parts having to be changed out on new builds. I remember my last few projects going through the same thing. When you get the project driving after a years work the first month seems to be spent throwing some of the parts in the garbage and then throwing on used OEM when you can and chancing more new aftermarket when you can't. Oh well, more satisfying when you finally get it all sorted I suppose.

Hopefully soon more manufacturing will be returned  and hopefully the quality as well....fingers crossed.

Quote from: blown motor on June 13, 2025, 07:25:21 PMGreat pics Jason. That lad has grown since the last time I've seen him.

Yes he has. Pretty much the same height as I am now.  which means it has been far too long since we have got together.  We need to plan something over the summer.

Quote from: jimynick on June 13, 2025, 08:47:56 PMAnd isn't that exactly what I'd've said?! You've got to stop feeding that lad Jas.  :bigthumb:   Is that a FC7 :bigthumb:  robe?

Boy, that deal hit close to home! My brand new mini starter has begun to hang up and stay engaged! Jesus, I thought it would be better then the old one, but maybe not. Seems like I'm not the only one! What a PITA.

I think I goofed. Are you referring to the Jeep Trackhawk?
I moved the post over to the Car Show/Racing section.
Sorry!

After driving around yesterday in a hot van that lost its AC, my wife is finally 100% onboard with upgrading now instead of down the road.

Called Vintage Air and they don't have slant brackets and lines, so I'll need to do a little fab work, ordered the kit. But I get AC!!

Yea I chase tools all the time.
Had a lot of on line forum heated comments a couple years ago when I was aligning the Falcon. "YOU HAVE TO HAVE CAR AT RIDE LEVEL" kept stating it was.
Curves steeper from there.
Note the Challenger sitting under cover behind it. Outside storage for it is what pushed me to ko Falcon and sell it.

Well you also have to remember the original parts weren't that great either. It's not like as originally built they were good for years. A car that made it to 60k was considered used up.

I finally did something I have wanted to do for a long time...took my cuda to a charity golf :D  :D  tournament that i have attended for the last 10 years or so.

120 mile rpund trip.  Mostly highway in the morning, 2 lane roads all the way home.

I was not going to take it again this year as the weather was crapy and rainy today, but I promised my son I wpild take him to school today in the cuda, so I had it out (his last day of the year) and figured what the hell.

Car ran great the whole way.

Probably the most I have enjoyed driving the car for quite a while.

The OD, the new steering box, the hydro boost...all just working.  :D  :D
