That's awesome Jason. Glad to hear you're enjoying it again. Text me a rough idea of when you typically would have some free time to do a little run and get I'll get something going a time or two this summer.

Finished the front suspension and Dr Diff disc kit installation and thankfully the 14" Rallye wheels fit fine. installed the gas tank, I hate how those straps install on the back side. Carpet loosely laid in

I also received the not inexpensive AC bracket from Bouchillon Engineering (only source). After the last couple days of 100 degrees, I'm looking forward to this one

Quote from: Cudajason on June 19, 2025, 06:17:36 PMI finally did something I have wanted to do for a long time...took my cuda to a charity golf :D  :D  tournament that i have attended for the last 10 years or so.

120 mile rpund trip.  Mostly highway in the morning, 2 lane roads all the way home.

I was not going to take it again this year as the weather was crapy and rainy today, but I promised my son I wpild take him to school today in the cuda, so I had it out (his last day of the year) and figured what the hell.

Car ran great the whole way.

Probably the most I have enjoyed driving the car for quite a while.

The OD, the new steering box, the hydro boost...all just working.  :D  :D

Well deserved after all your persistence.

I was going to get the new heater/AC box installed today, but going through the parts list last night it seems they forgot to include the O rings + oil (they are FedExing them)...

I at least got the new gas tank installed today and the new disc/drum distribution block.

Sound deadening and FYI for future reference.
As shown in pic, I have leftover brands from previous installs.
Dynamat, Kilmat and now Siless.
All are same mil thicknesses.
Dynamat hands down is far stickier than the other two.
Downside of Dynamat the smooth aluminum top face for contoured areas.

Siless and Kilmat both have similar stickiness. Less than Dynamat.
Plus for both these is the pleats they have on aluminum top cover. This allows for improved contouring to floor.

Least impressed is the Siless. The top aluminum feels thinner and tends to tear easier.
Second is that the paper backing on the Siless brand tends to tear more when peeling off. So time was wasted peeling off the remaining backing.

Not looking at $$$ when choosing between the 3. Hands down the Dynamat wins in my book.
Especially when adding it to the underside of a roof for a car that will see high heat areas.
The others probably work fine, but definitely not an area I would want to fail once headliner is in.

New carpet.
Interior is now assembled 100%. First time I had it all together in probably 25 years. Single item to compete in tje next couple weeks will be the center console. Woodgrain on aluminum panel and black vinyl wrap.
Also 3D printed cup holder.
Time to simply enjoy it for awhile.

Helpful tips for carpet install along with workaround for the aging crowd.
1) When laying carpet, establish the best fitting location and then lock it down with bolts where seats go. Now every other fit and tuck will not influence where you started.
2) I suffer from Dupuytren's Contracture.
So removal of rear seat has become next to impossible when you cannot forcefully smack the leading face to release hook.
I bent the forward tabs to minimize the overhang latch. Seat still snaps into place and stays, but removal is 100x easier.

After replacing a blown/leaking power valve, I had another go and fine tunning the carb on my 451"I REALLY like the adjustability of this quickfuel carb!
850 DP The engine has pretty low vacuum at idle like 5-5.5 inches ,Lunati hyd roller etc....  I drilled holes in the throttle blades to let some air by as the 4 idle mixture screws did not do much and were very sensitive. I started at .093" and ended up at .187" ( 3/16") I know I can't go any bigger as the idle screw is backed down as far as it will go. If I drilled the holes any bigger than it would idle too high when I got the 4 idle mixture screws adjusted using the air/fuel ratio gauge. Also went up a few squirter sizes. I'm always by myself messing with the car but today I got the wife to hop in and press the gas pedal to the floor and discover the 4bbl are only opening about 3/4 of the way. I'll have to remedy that. Runs much better now, left a couple of nice black marks down the length of my driveway, the old girl was just marking her territory! Last summer I cam across a Hellcat Charger and we got into it a little bit I was surprised that I kept up with him, couldn't go by him and he couldn't go by me, seemed pretty equal? Makes me wonder if the carb opening all the way would have made a difference?

Lots of other parts on the carb to play with, the adjustable emulsion holes might be next to play with.

 I quit my job so I can start taking the "baggies full of parts" down off the wall and start putting them back on the car. Some of them baggies are 40 years old. Got fed up with all the B.S at work decided it was time to quit . although at my age some would call retirement. Either way my new focus will be the challenger that has been sitting since 83. Cheers

Hadn't heard from you in a while, was wondering how you were doing. Congratulations on your "retirement".

I love that car- period! When Murray and I went to look at it, it took about 1.5 seconds for me to have carnal thoughts about Black Betty and the situation hasn't been aided by this! Enjoy brother!
