I took the Power Wagon, the kids all get their turn, to a local craft brewery for some music and because the fridge needed some restocking. This guy tells me he really likes the truck and it turns out he's got a 73 Challenger. Orange, strobe stripe, 340 4 speed. Local car. Who knew? I've never seen the car out and about. You never know what's hiding out there.

100 mile round trip for a cars and coffee event. Sneaking the low budget in with the high budget crowd. Even had a film crew with boom truck camera.

Following  my discovery that my right angle adapter had begun dripping on my headers, I managed to scrounge up some ambition and jacked the car up to see what was going on. The main leak seemed to be from the hollow bolt that holds the adapter onto the block. It took three passes through my dad's tool box, but I finally found a 1 3/16" socket. Then there was trying to turn my arms into rubber so that I could access that big-assed bolt. First the filter had to go and if I find that SOB who cranked it on so hard I'll....wait, that idiot was ME! I finally got that swine bolt out and it seemed to have something on the sealing surface of the copper washer that goes against the block. After cleaning it, I figured- just a wee sciff of the old black sealant should finish it, right? I'd sealed and cleaned the nozzle of the tube and it was a surprise to find that the contents had hardened some. After 15 minutes of digging in vain, I said FI and cut the end off the tube. I saw that that had been the right thing to do, as the contents were hard at least 2" in from the spout! There was enough "gush" left to put on the bolt once I'd passed a fine file flat over the washer surface and I contorted myself again and got that damn bolt back in. With the headers and torsion bar arrangement, I got one socket, universal and 8" 1/2" drive extension on and tightened it up. Reality reared it's ugly head and after yet another (1 of 20) climb up from the floor, I dragged my factory FSM out and discovered that there was, indeed, a torque spec of 50lb/ft and made it so. I put a new filter on which is a PITA as you can only get one! click on the ratchet attached to the filter wrench! Jesus! Added some oil (luckily it has a 7 qt. pan) and fired it up. It seems ok, but I don't think it likes the 80psi oil pressure when cold, so we'll see. One task off the list and now I just need to spend most of the day to clean it from the oil mist all over it,  :tired:

Reclaimed the garage space. It was relegated to outside storage while replacing a storage shed.

Quote from: RJChallenger on September 07, 2025, 09:52:56 AMIt was a nice day so I decided to roll the car outside into the sun. Pulled the valve covers to inspect rockers and watch for oil as I prime the oil pump. Hope to be able to start run the motor later this week.
Well that was a royal waste of time. In my rush to getting the car running before winter, I decided to pull the intake/carb to get a good look at the camshaft/ lifters. I would also be able to pour oil directly on the cam and lifters. While lifting the intake / carb back onto the motor I heard a "ting" something metal just feel . I get my flash light out and look down into the motor , WTF i see a nut lying down on the crank.  If you look at the picture, I posted u can clearly see the locking screw is missing from the front fuel bowl . That's a non metallic nut. I managed to drop it down to the windage tray. Oh well pull the motor, pull the nut. I found a steel bar that would fit across the inner fenders. Pulled the alt / power steering and motor mount bolts, jacked it up as high as she would go and strap the motor to the bar . Dropped the pan and windage tray grabbed the nut and cleaned the bottom of the motor . ordered new valley pan and gaskets. Just waiting for one more gasket. Found the needle seat lock nut on the work bench where I had changed the carb gaskets. All is good

Wow, sounds like a lot work?
No chance it would have come out the drain plug?

Took the Cuda for a good drive today.  Went from St. Thomas, ON along Hwy.#3 to Jarvis.  Also down to Port Dover.
It's called "Ontario South Coast Dream Drive"  You travel along the highway where each town/city has a pit stop where you can have a bite to eat or just look around and talk to the other cruisers.  I did not go the entire way to Fort Erie.
Not many Mopars so a bit disappointed.

Car drove well and no issues.

Drove to an all Mopar show yesterday in Augusta Maine with a friend and her nephew in her `70 Charger, 250 mile round trip for me and 300 miles for her. Nice small dealership show and fun ride back along secondary roads on a cool sunny fall day.

Dont think so. It was a lot of work but couldnt take chance on it not taking a bearing out. Besides being retired , I have time to do it right.

Went to a show this morning. Turnout was a little disappointing but it was an awesome day for for a drive. A black Charger, red Challenger and green Cuda does get a few looks along the way.

I had the day off, weird I know. Weather was nice so I pulled out the old girl and knock down 80 plus miles in the am. Just a spur of the moment drive.

So glad I did. It has me rethinking what I want to do with the car.

1974 Cuda. 360 / A500 OD.  Yes its pink, no its not my wife's car!  Yes I drive it.

Installing a garage heater so I can play more in the winter. Thankfully this garage has a 100 amp dedicated panel so I got a 7500w/240, should keep it decent.

I'm also close to having my 3d printing set up back up, I had misplaced a couple of pieces and found them yesterday, I just need to run through calibrations and testing.

Went to a local cars show "end of season" show. Great weather and nice turn out, about 400-500 cars showed up. I counted six 1970 Challengers there. Quite a few Mopars, 2 really nice sublime 70 Roadrunners/GTX and lots of A-Bodys and B and C bodys too. It was nice to get the car out as I really didn't get it out much this year due to one thing or another.

avatar_Chryco Psycho @Chryco Psycho  750 cars! Wow! Are you still down in Panama? Were those all American made cars? That's a good turn out. Panama is a small country. Nice.
