Hey @cuda hunter. I see @Cuda Cody said he had lots of 7 blade fans/clutches available. I also have one available. If interested, Pm me and I'll send you a photo or two if Cody can't help.

Here is the Jag one previously mentioned.... its slightly shorter than the new one ( above) at 2.67"

Jag clutch is 0.04 shorter, standard duty rating.
2947 is heavy duty rated

So i would think the heavy duty rated clutch would be the better option depending on my distance measurement between my radiator and water pump.   .04 is not much difference from the 2947.

I'll get a measurement

Probably worth using the HD one if you have clearance , this is not an option if you don't have the clearance ! I am sure either would work just fine & would be a big improvement

:iagree:  The HD one is a new part not available in years past when everyone used the Jag one. I'd try/recommend the new HD one. .040" is nothing to be concerned about. Motor mounts likely move more than that.  :D

The depth from the flange where it sits on the water pump pulley, to the tip of the cooling fins on the face is 1-5/8"

So I have exactly 2" from pulley to radiator.  Is 3/8" too close?  I'm a little worried about that.

This one Brad points out is 2.67 which would not fit in my space.

@TONY must be using a factory clutch or what are you using TONY?   Yours would work but it appears the Hayden clutch won't work with my car.

Thats what my reproductions measure. Ive used them on 3 of my cars , all 70 e bodies, with no issue

Are we sure about the water pump to radiator distance?  I just went out and measured my BS23NOE car, and the distance from the water pump mounting surface to the radiator is 4-5/8 inches.

The fan clutch to radiator is 2-3/4 inches.

I would think that a 400 would be the same as my 383...

Ok, so i'm not dealing with an E body.  Unfortunately.
This is an A body of which my friend who owned it before me kept the small block K frame, had custom mounts made, dented and welded the oil pan, had a custom drive shaft made and had a custom exhaust system made to accommodate the keeping of the small block K. So that being done doesn't give me much room between the radiator and the front of the motor.  It's 2". totally sucks.  I know.

TONY, If yours only measure 1 5/8"  I am probably going to go with yours since it will actually fit.

yes I know I need to buy a k frame, buy a new drive shaft, get an exhaust shop(100 miles away) to cut and weld, buy new motor mounts, pull motor and trans.  That's in the thousands of dollars so I'm hoping I can get away with at least fixing this problem for less than a 100 bucks with a clutch, fan new hoses, maybe a new radiator to bump the cost up a little bit.

finding a big block A body K frame is not easy either. And I know I should probably be asking these q's over on FABO but in reality, that site sucks and I like you guys.

Gotcha!

I think you are going to have to run a direct drive fan.  2 inches is plenty of room for that if you run a flat front fan.

Do you have a picture of a direct drive fan?  Is that without a clutch?
I see with a clutch that the fan mounts to the back of the clutch.

I googled it and got no good results for direct drive fan.
