Is the idler arm on my ta anything special or is it the same as a regular non quick ratio unit?

MOPAR MITCH

Assuming you are talking power steering, the factory original Idler Arm is just one part number... same for all power steering on E-Bodies.

However, IF you have the T/A Fast Ratio power steering gear box, which will have the longer Pitman Arm that is stamped "Fast Ratio", again the factory original is just a standard item.  BUT... you can correct the steering with a LONGER IDLER ARM from a ~1970 C-body (Fury, etc.).  Your turning radius left-right will then be corrected.   The factory overlooked the required longer idler arm to use with the longer Fast-Ratio Pitman arm.

NOTE:  Any and ALL distributors that sell a "Fast Ratio" IDLER ARM, is simply selling you a C-body longer idler arm... always has been, always will be.  The term "Fast-Ratio IDLER ARM" was never developed by anyone -- not Firm Feel, Hotchkis, PST... or anyone... its simply an added marketing name to the longer C-body idler arm.

Just doing a quick price check...

A Moog C-body idler arm from Rock Auto is $35.
The "Fast Ratio idler arm" from Firm Feel is $95.
