Ok so I have to replace my upper ball-joint boots.

Found the boots on Rock Auto. Energy Suspension is the Manufacturer.
What is the proper procedure to disengage the control arm from the knuckle?

According to the manual if I was replacing the ball joints it says jack the car up from the lower control arm as close to the wheel as possible
and remove the wheel. Now if I remove  the carter pin and nut can I just pop the control arm off the knuckle?
And if so can I remove the boot and replace?

Does the car need a alignment after I am done?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Joe

the ball joint is tapered so it will be locked into the spindle even with the nut off , 2 ways to separate it , if you are replacing the joint you can use the pickle fork , it will destroy the boot & can be hard of the joint too , or just hit the side of spindle hard with a heavy hammer where the ball joint pin goes through & it will usually pop apart .
This will not affect the alignment , if the ball joint is not tight you may need to replace the ball joint too

One of my favorite tools. Load it up some with a wrench and tap it with a hammer will almost always pop the joint. No boot damage and no marred up knuckles.
