Nice build, what did you need to do to fit the jeep brakes on the 8 3/4?

All the little mods and hassles detour me from going down that road. But I can appreciate all the quality work your doing. Great job!  :ohyeah:

Long answer longer...
Since I needed to narrow the B-body rear, I was planning on new axles anyway so I had the axles custom made by Doctor Diff to fit the Cherokee Brakes. We talked through what I was wanting to do and just to make sure, I sent one side to him. I gave him the distance of wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface I wanted and he did the math for me.
I set the mounted wheels and tires under the car where I wanted them and measured back of wheel to back of wheel to get the measurement.
I had the 8-3/4 housing narrowed after I got the axles. All the math was perfect and confirmed by Bill Scribner http://scribnerwelding.com/   https://www.facebook.com/bill.scribner.33
Bill straightened, narrowed and welded my new billet Housing ends and perches on. He also added a drain plug for me.

This is the brake kit I used. It could all have been pulled from a wrecking yard too. Or Ford Explorer I'm told...
I scored on an open box on Ebay for cheap. Kind of complicated to get here but good to go for many years to come.
Easy replacement parts when it's time to do brakes. 2000 Grand Cherokee is how I'll remember.

Applied some Cast Blast to the 3rd Member.
The thin black finish the new pig came with was already starting to show some surface rust. I like the natural cast look better.

Did you put any tabs on the housing to support the outer rear flex hoses ?
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Those don't look "Factory Original" to me.  :unbelievable:
Only the original hardline clips are there. Do I tabs for the flex hoses? They weren't there before.  :dunno:
I guess I could add one to each side when I run the lines if needed.

Is your plan to run hard lines directly to the caliper ? or use flex hoses ?

I get it.
The drums were hard line all the way and the Discs will have flex connected to the hard lines.
Thanks for the heads up Alan.

Guess I will fab a couple tabs like these...
I'll work from calipers back with the flex lines to locate the tabs and make my hard lines from the tabs back to the tee block.

Maybe a dumb question, but is the reason for using flex hoses ease of changing the pads or are they used because of vibration/movements in the calipers?

Not at all.
No flex lines to drum brakes needed but calipers can be fixed or floating. Floating move with braking and pad wear. Mine came with a pair of flex lines and tabs. I looked in the box and there were two different types of tabs.
Fixed or floating calipers, I know if you change pads or rotors it's better to have flex lines to allow moving the calipers or let them hang out of the way without having to disconnect the hard lines.

Mocked up but not the final location.
Think I will move the tabs just a little closer to the calipers to give another inch or two of slack and then weld them on.
