Small non-progress update.

Turns out 1" threaded rod makes a really bad locator pin. Seems obvious now, but the threads catch the sheet metal as well as allow it to move ever so slightly.

Solution was simple, 1" bolts with the heads cut off and we're back to awesome again.

Next are the pull clamps I'm going to use to hold the car up by the rocker pinch when the frame/cross-member support isn't present, or just whenever I want some extra support for this thing. There will be some sort of support for these to bolt to that spans the jig somehow.

Alright, all my vert fans out there, does anyone have close up detailed pictures of this area? I need to reconstruct quite a bit of it.

Finally making more progress on this thing. Trying to keep motivated and I'll tell ya, one thing that makes this interesting is trying to figure out how these went together so I can reverse it when I take parts off etc. Like a stupid expensive puzzle.. lol

Morning folks,

I hit/created a bump in my process due to my lack of patience.

1. I didn't X-brace the rear door jamb area before starting in on the passenger side rocker removal. Removal is NOT complete.
1a. The jamb is still intact and I have measurements from before I started cutting but I'd like to have someone verify them. I don't have that measurement handy but I think it's 63.5 inches top to top.
1b. The passenger outer rocker is still "locatable" to its original position so I'll tack it back in place.

2. I didn't mock the door opening up with an original door before this work to check the jamb reveals.
2a. Door hinges and hinge pillars are shot. My plan is to put two lengths of 2x1/4 steel flat bar about 5
inches long on the top the rocker and extending past the edge. I'll "rest" the doors on these and align
them with the front of the door/rocker lines, shimming as needed.
2b. I'll tack some small squares of 16g to the bottom edge of the doors to make sure they are aligned with
the outer edges of the rockers. I think this will allow me to check the gaps and positioning of things.
Another set of "tabs" to the rear of the doors.

3. I didn't verify the angle of the windshield frame with the doors installed and the windows "up".
3a. When the doors are "installed" per #2, roll the windows up and check the angle of the windshield frame.

Some measurements I'd like to get that aren't on the drawings we all know and love.

1. Centerline height of the rear leaf spring shackle mounts
2. Angle of the windshield frame wrt rocker top

A this point my goal is to establish the rear Dynacorn assembly and rockers, then rebuild everything from that base. I believe I can safely cut the damaged parts of the door jambs since they reference the door, which are referenced against the front of the rockers so when the time comes I can put the doors back on as describe above and move ahead with the B pillars, quarters etc. assuming I have the height correct.

My current plan for establishing the base.

1. Replace the rear section with the Dynacorn piece.
2. Replace the Inner Rockers.
3. Install the bracing into the outer Rocker
4. Install Outer fully braced outer rocker
5. Replace/Repair the B pillars using the doors as references.

At the point I'll start working on quarters, tail panel etc.

Once the rear is established, I'll move forward to the hinge/inner cowl area and the rest.

Any thoughts, measurements anyone feels like sharing, advice etc would be greatly appreciated, here or PM.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah it's pretty much been taking itself apart for the last 45 years. I'm just the poor schmuck trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

huh, I think I just figured out my future vanity plate....
