Very nice Rich G.  :bigthumb:

@IMNCARN82  is another member who seems to know a thing or two about crisp body lines. Although I think most of his body line postings were over on cc.

Found his thread on CC, reading it now, all pictures on CC are gone though  :tired:
I rarely look at CC anymore, but there is some good info there.

You'll get it , it's not that hard. This is what the guide coat does for you. If you don't have a nice line now you will be able to see it.

I think I have been using the guide coat the wrong way!
Back to it on Monday, rain all weekend here.
But it is hard, for me. Feel like a 3 year old drawing a horse for the first time... :haha:

It is so much easier blocking the fenders and doors on a flat bench. When you feel you have them very good then you can put them back on the car to do your final block sanding.

If theres one thing I remember about restoring my Cuda it's spending hours blocking that bodyline.

@soundcontrol  That's not a bad drawing of a hippo, oh that was supposed to be a horse? LOL All good have fun.

One other thing for block sanding e body lines. You are going to need some rounded and semi round blocks.

I bought a big piece of that same material they use for Dura Block, I can cut and shape pieces out of that, I made a few to test with.

You can't really do both sides at once. (Top &  bottom)   One side at a time.

So much to say. But not much for words.   I accentuated the body line the thickness of a nickel.  Approx.   and it's just so crisp.  I used 3M mounting tape vs. the multiple layers of tape  technique.
Was epic.   Sanding is where it's at.   I'll tell you a secret.   Lay your adhesive paper strip on the car.  Then lay your thin foam block on it.  And it will match the curve of the car.    Sand one end to the other.

I also did this 50/50 technique with high  build primer. 3 layers of tape to help give it an edge to sag into.  Let it harden and do the other half.  You'll be surprised at how will it works.

Supernice Cuda!! I read your thread on CC, lots of work on that car. I'm just happy if I'll get the lines straight now.
The front fender was smashed so I mostly had no line at all.
Will try that tape trick!

soundcontrol

I tried the tape trick today, in a few places only, (I know, I should do the whole fender at once), but I didn't have that patience and rain was coming...
It worked very nicely. Thanks @ IMNCARN82 for sharing that!
But it looks so much better now, not great, not even good, but I see the light... big improvement from when I started.
A few more rounds and it will be OK for the car, then I have both quarters that has no body line at all over the wheel wells.
The rest of the car does not have sharp lines, very diffuse, and it's original.
I might have to tone this down a bit more to match the door.

That looks good, now you've done it!

Yup, I can see it now, good won't be good enough. Will go for perfect. Pretty soon it will be a cuda with the crispest lines in Sweden
