I cut away the lower left over pieces of my quarter today. Never been inside this area before, there is the outer rocker panel, then another piece that stops kinda where the quarter panel ends, (under the lower part of the quarter) then the heavier convertible reinforcement inside. (it's inside the black hole not showing good in the picture)  I'm confused about the piece in the middle, is that supposed to end there? Not be connected to the outer rocker?

I'm not a convertible expert, but I've heard that convertibles have an extra piece or metal in the rockers to add bracing.  I think @Convertcuda  would know for sure?   :notsure:

A friend of mine makes his own "subframe connectors" that he installs inside the rockers. He welds them in tying everything together. Not sure what you are looking at on this one though.

Yeah, they do, that piece is in there, and in good shape. I'm concerned about the piece thats directly behind the quarter panels lower part, in this picture I found of a Cuda, it looks like it connects to the outer rocker. Mine looks like its cut off. I not sure if that piece ends there or if it's supposed to be welded to the outer rocker. I'm searching for a closeup picture of that area, to see where it ends and if it is welded to the outer rocker.

No idea what your talking about....

Hers's a picture from a conversion convertible that I did. This car had convertible rockers installed with custom made made frame connectors that fit nice along floor pans.

OK, a bit hard to explain, I'll try a closeup.

1. is the inner convertible reinforcement. (this one is fine)

2. is the piece I'm asking about, it looks cut off, is this supposed to connect to the outer rocker and be welded?

3. is the outer rocker

Another picture of how there are installed.

Im not sure because its hard to tell but it looks like the front of the convertible rocker is gone where the black hole is.

Convertcuda

I took a close look but it looks like both pieces need repair.  I will get another pic for you tomorrow that I have of car in the shop that shows this better.

No, the convertible reinforcement is fine, all there, see pict from inside the rockers. Its the piece sandwiched between the rocker reinforcement and the quarter panels lower part that looks cut off.

#2 and #3 should be one piece. They are stamped as one piece and the quarter panel overlaps it in the back. You are going to have to keep stripping the rocker, moving forward to find were the previous repairs were started and then fill that area.

The extra reinforcement doesn't look right either, I don't think it should be cut right there. Maybe if more of the rocker is exposed you will get more info.

If you look at the photo taken inside the rocker you can clearly see the two notches near the end of the reinforcement... Same as the pictures I posted of rocker reinforcements.... Thats how they are...
