Does anyone have the breakdown of the '70 EB5 formulation?

Pretty much every major pain manufacture has the paint mix for it, but they all look a little different.  It's best to do a sample spray out and see the colors yourself.  Also, the color of the primer you use will also have an affect on the final look of the color.

Have you decided what brand of paint you want to use?

He uses Wanda/Upol. I was able to get him over the various codes for PPG and DuPont so hopefully that's all he needs to get the right match

Paint manufacturers have their own formulas based on their toners so you can`t use one companies formula with anothers toners and expect a good match.

I going thru the same thing with plum crazy (FC7).  Simple fact is that there is no way of perfectly matching the original look of the 70-74 cars.   They were painted with Single Stage Paint...and today nobody does that as the now popular Urethane two stage is what we all want.  They also faded fairly rapidly back then so that if u do happen to find a 1970 car that still has its original paint it will have faded.

Here is my example...   Want Plum Crazy for my 74 Challenger that had been repainted in 2016 using Sherwin Williams paint.  It is a beautiful color but it parked beside of plum crazy cars they are all slightly different.  AND MAN has the price of that paint gone up.   A full gallon of it now runs $1700 and a gallon of PPG Deltron runs about $1400.   One post says get spray out cards of several of them and pick what you want.   3 oz of Deltron costs around $50 so getting several of them can be extremely expensive.

I had Headjm send me his spray out card which was with PPG Deltron to use as a target.  PPG dealer mixed 3 oz of "std" Deltron but when sprayed it was much darker and not as vibrant.   Went to another dealer and they explained that PPG has two formulas... One std and one Prime and showing the mix on their computer screen it became obvious that neither matched and they would have to custom blend it.  They strongly suggested that they use OMNI PLUS as the paint as they can match just as well and it will last and cost less than half of the Deltron.

So i said ok and they with their computer did a custom mix and showed what it will look like on their computer first.  That turned out to be the closest to the spray out card sent to me..   So they mixed up 3 oz of it ($24) and i brought the sample to my body shop and they did a spray out for me.  The spray out card was then next to my car and it looked extremely close and with even more metallic in it.
So bought a gallon of it (Omni Plus) and a gallon of reducer and it with tax came to $643.   Hopefully my body shop finishes sanding down my car and can spray it with a light primer and then with the color and clear coat in about a week or two.   Till then im nervous.

It IS possible to get extremely close if not almost perfect to the factory colors but it takes a good painter to custom tint it. I have a small sample jar of Tamco FC7 that I am going to spray out soon to check the match to an original sample from inside of a trunk lid, if I am not happy with it Tamco can try to get it closer for me.

Agreed. It is possible to match and sometimes you get lucky and it matches without even tinting. The wiring channel on the drivers side floor with the bend over cover has never seen the light of day so we figured it would be our best place to use as our gold standard. My painter used PPG I believe and it matched very close without any tinting. My car is B5 also. Keep in mind that you can have an effect on the final appearance by simply changing air pressure through the gun and distance from the car. Good luck and I'm sure it will be gorgeous either way.

I saw this on Reddit a few weeks ago and told the guy to post it on eBay. This is an original fc7 cap that was day one removed and put in a box. If I was going to try and paint match from this year, this would be a perfect sample to scan
