My T/As rear frame rail brackets disappeared somewhere over the years between 2 restoration shops it was at. :pullinghair:
I just picked up a nice pair of them.  I don't recall now how they were supposed to be finished.
Were they installed on the cars before priming and painting, or afterward?

Good question, I as well am waiting for that answer :pixiepop:
Get in, I'll drive

They were left un painted/unfinished.

Bare steel.   :alan2cents:

Mine had under coating; a little on them.

The ones I just got are bare steel with some undercoating splatters on them.
I may be able to bolt them on as is!
I love it when a plan comes together.  :woohoo:

I agree: Bare metal, the factory intended for them to be removed by the dealers so need for any coatings. Also yes on the oversprayed undercoating.

Mine look like that too. I was thinking of painting mine; what are you guys doing to preserve the look of bare steel?

Although they were not painted, just installed in the raw and many received undercoating, I have to think that a light coat of paint would be fine. And it can be easily removed later if wanted.

Paint them with Seymore's Stainless Steel paint :alan2cents:

I finally got around to installing the pair I bought.
I sprayed them with this product that was recommended to me to protect from rusting.

Thanks Alan, that's what I will get. I see Summit carries it and I want to place an order with them anyway.

JH27NOB I am curious how that product holds up over time.   Thanks for the info guys!

While I know this is not exactly a perfect shade for raw metal. I use cast iron powder coat on these parts. Very easy to use and super durable.

Those look really nice.   :bravo:
