:iagree:  It's one of those rare cars ( like my 71 Javelin) that look nicer as a race car IMO

RUNCHARGER

I've still got a model of his 72 from when I was a kid. It was a pretty decent kit.

:rebelflag"   My Sweetheart brought me a book she's had about 40 years that was given to her by her father's first cousin Neil Bonnett.  Mainly an account of Neil's 1977 NASCAR season but gives a quick overview of what led him to stock car racing and driving for another of the Alabama Gang, Bobby Allison.  While not a great novel it gives insight into the thoughts and day to day living of an up an coming driver. Lot's of names I'm sure you older guys would recognize ..

Here's a couple of pages retelling the events of Neil's first attempt in '73 to qualify at Talledaga I found most entertaining.

The Charger 1973

In '77 he joined the K&K team, Crew Chief Harry Hyde

Mid season K&K folded & the team was purchased by Jim Stacey
Of interest they were not getting good support from Chrysler who kept promising new engine blocks but never delivered. They were reusing old motors & searching for T/A blocks from junk yards to build.

Early days with his ARCA Charger

The book was published in '79 and has references to the '78 & '79 seasons. By then Neil was driving for the Wood Brothers so that explains the cover photo

The original Alabama Gang Donnie Allison, Red Farmer, Neil Bonnett, Bobby Allison
