question of the day-splash shield

Hi Guys, Heres a question me and my friends have been wondering for a while and we have heard various answers. Is this shield for all e-bodies or for just automatic cars or vice versa. I know you guys will know the correct answer. Thanks Wayne.

However automatic AAR's and T/A's use a different one made out of metal.

Anyone know why they used a different splash shield for 1970 Challenger T/A and Cuda AAR's?

I'll see if I have a photo.....  Anyone else have a good close up photo?

I'm not a B body expert, but is the metal one on a T/A & AAR the same as the B-Bodies?

My 71 Road Runner has a plastic one. Pic below. I also wonder why they are not on a manual trans car. Since it's called a starter splash shield.

I learned something new.  And you ruined my day.   :(  I had a metal splash shield for my Auto T/A (project came in boxes all disassembled) and thought it was wrong so I think I recycled it.   I had never had an auto 340 six pack T/A before and thought all the splash shields were the same on E-Bodies.  I've spent about 1.5 hours looking for it and I think it's gone forever.   :'(

Here's a photo of it....    :('  :'(  :('  :'(  I was sure it was not for the car and must have been off something else.  It sat on a shelve in my shop for years and years.  Then one day I was cleaning up and thought I better just recycle it.     :Thud:

Yup....That's a T/A or AAR piece....hard to find originals.... :alan2cents:

Hmmm, I am pretty sure that my 70 Challenger R/T also has that.  It is a 440 with a manual transmission. I thought it was called a starter shield.

Your car MAY have it, but it's not supposed to be there on a four speed car. Someone may have added it not knowing. :alan2cents:

I can only blame myself for not keeping it.   :'(   If anyone has one I am now looking for a TA Auto splash shield.

Yup....That's a T/A or AAR piece....hard to find originals.... :alan2cents:

They probably needed it due to the longer quick ratio steering arm.

No, I was wrong, it was the K frame splash shields I was thinking of.
