Well it's been ten days, but I got this Cuda put back together for the guy after a couple of shops had given up....I used "customer supplied parts" so don't comment on the wrong seats and such.... :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Scroll back in this thread to April 8th to see before pictures....going to deliver it tomorrow so I can get back to work on that Resto-mod

Were the grills painted body color on some of them like that or is that a post-delivery thing?

As part of the "BS"-Cuda package, certain colours received a colour keyed grill in 1971. :D

Scooter

Drove it.... Brentwood yesterday and Sactown today... warm up there. Went 80 up and 5 back. New fan controller working as intended.. 180 near the entire way. Hit 190 climbing up the Altimont at 75mph so I'd call that good. Still going to get a tranny cooler though as I'm near positive that is where the heat is coming from.

Just a bit more sanding on the header and the boys helped me throw the hood back on so I can try to fit it. Son Nick test fitted the new w/o mldgs and drilled the holes, so that we don't have to screw with that once it's painted. Glacially, it proceeds.

I tried to order the last of the major body parts that I need to finish putting the rear end back in the car. I've have new trunk floor wheel tubs and drop off gas tank supports and the left rear frame rail from Goodmark. The left rail cost $316 plus tax local pickup. I 've been checking LKQ Cross Canada site since Jan to see when stock might come available. There's no stock in Canada or the USA. No stock at Year one , Summit , Rock Auto or any of the usual web sites. AMD no longer has rear frame section on there web site , only front frame. If I do manage to find something the Canadian dollar sucks, duties shipping triples the price. I don't want to weld everything together until I get another frame rail , so that I can test fit the bumper etc. When I bought my car there were no restoration companies supplying parts . Now that the kids are grown and I can afford to by parts , there are no parts. I've waited  38 years what another year or two.

@RJChallenger So are you looking for a right frame rail? If you have a good enough sample I know a guy who might be able to make you one. He's made stuff for me before and he does really good work.

Thanks very much @anlauto  and @blown motor .There's not enough meat left for a good sample, besides since joining this site I found out I'm a bit of a purest. If I hadn't bought the left frame rail then maybe if both sides looked the same. Golden leaf has 2 frames in stock , not sure how they compare to Goodmark or AMD . I can buy AMD ( if in stock states side) from National moparts for 569 +tax and drive 200 miles. Golden Leaf no name for $469+tax and drive100 miles, plus gas and time with the misses. I would really like to support our sponsor Roseville. How much is the discount from Roseville? maybe with the discount, + duty taxes and shipping it might be the best option. Thanks guys

@RJChallenger Rob, I don't think AMD does rear frame rails anymore.... The Golden Leaf are likely the same as Goodmark  :alan2cents:

@anlauto I know your correct about AMD not doing rear frame rails for Challengers , as I was on the AMD website when they removed the "rear frame rail section" . I've emailed AMD this afternoon to comfirm , I haven't heard back yet. Just called ( to late in the day) Roseville to get price and shipping . How much of a discount do us members get at Roseville and who is best to talk to in the morning. thanks

I used to sell quite a bit of AMD sheetmetal and some of it came from the other manufacturers anyway. I can't remember on the frame rails though. Even though AMD QC was questionable at times it is a shame they are dumping Mopar and changing over to Ford and GM production which mostly have sources already.

Pretty boring here; another 2=3hrs block sanding and I finally had the epiphany, and laid off the 400 and went back to the 240, and cut down until it's now showing some metal and I had to bag the fender's interior since I don't feel like re-painting the edges. I also Dremel'd out the hair-line crack I found in my finish sanded header, and 'glassed it up. What a PITA, but it's a necessary step on the road to redemption!  :help:   ;)

Cleaned 50 years of grease and grunge from the outside and inside door handles.  Oh - and I shoveled the driveway - where's spring?
