E Body Exhaust running just mufflers under car eliminating resonators? Thoughts

  Hi,
    This is not a question for those seeking the utmost in originality.

Originally the Ebodies had resonators under the car and mufflers at the rear.
I am curious, running just mufflers under the car eliminating the resonators what could I expect doing this? More noise in the car etc?
   I am not doing this for any other reason than just keeping the exhaust it simple. I see it on other models of cars mufflers only then out the tips. I have found a picture of what I was considering.
  Thoughts, anyone running this set up...pictures Etc?

What are you running for mufflers with what engine?
Do you have droning in the car at highway speed, noise level etc?
  What size pipe?

Years ago someone added an X crossover pipe to my stock exhaust when I first bought the car in 1979.
Supposed to offer some "flow" advantage?

It really depends which mufflers you are using , some sound great without a second set , Hooker Aero Chambers & most Super Turbo such as dyno max sound great alone , others such a Flowbastard resonate like H3ll

Yes nearly the same exact was done to mine. Hemi cars had a H pipe.?
I have mine all apart now, soon to be reassembled. So looking for ideas on exhaust.
   440 U code in mine...

I have no real feedback to offer either way as I haven't put any miles on my car but I do have the same setup which was just installed a couple of weeks ago . . . "X" pipe and mufflers only.

The crossover pipes allow the exhaust to take the path of least resistance , I generally always have them in a system .
X pipes are similar & reduce backpressure even more but will change the sound

I've done that setup since the 70's, it works great. Factory exhaust is too quiet.

To answer your question... 426 HEMI w some knockoff Flowmasters (maybe??). Love the sound at the stoplight...      But the drone @ 70 can get annoying.. I keep earplugs hanging from my mirror !

I like the set up,, simple looking and functional
What Muffs are those on the rear, inlet+ outlet size?  What size pipes?

This is very clean looking, I think I like this better than muffs under the rear seat with nothing at the rear...
