So I went our local Fathers day car show Sunday in Brea. I am always on the lookout for our Mopar family. I was pleased to see a 70 Cuda there. Looked it over for a bit and went over to strike up a conversation. Asked the guy if it was his and he acknowledged it was. Told him I have a 74. I no sooner got that out of my mouth and he replies " well not everyone can have the desired years...
Thought of a few un-writable words and in an instant I cut my losses and Fu...en moved on.

Piece of crap to the hobby. Would expect with a response like that, he just pulled out his card and purchased it.

Thanks for listening.

I've noticed a lot of that as well, there are quite a few crabby ones out there that forget why they take their car to a show to a show in the first place.

If you don't want to chat or engage with others who are interested in what you have, stay at home.

I'll take a 74 any day of the week. They are ALL desirable to me!

Yeah, I've noticed some of that attitude with my 1972 Challenger.
At least they let us immediately know they're not worth our time, so there's something good with them even if it's not much.
Much better to have some friendly banter with a Camaro or Mustang owner, or even a Euro/Jap owner.

Bullitt-

Guess you coulda come back with.. Yeah.. to bad you couldn't afford a '71....

This is why, at Carlisle, I take my Viper to the Viper "area," I park it, clean it up, and then go hang out at the e-bodies tent for the rest of the weekend.  :)

That comment is odd.  Let's straighten out a few facts.

1. It is still an e-body.
2. The ONLY thing he is really suggesting is value (which IMHO is more on the owner vs. the rest of the world).
3. I love the tail lights of the 72-74 'cuda
4. I love the grille of the 72-74 'cuda
5. It takes the same effort to be nice as it takes to be a jerk... (he chose to be that way... WOW)
6. Why even attend a car show if you are going to be that way.

That is like me saying to someone with a GTX with a 440 and an automatic "Not everyone can afford a Hemi, 4 spd".

If you bit your tongue and walked away without saying anything, you are a better man than I am.  I would have said "Well I guess the rumor is true"  to which he would have said, "what rumor?" and I would have said "That you are an asshole" drop the mic and walk away.

I like going to the local car shows that are pre-73 and run by street rod/hot rod associations. The majority of the cars are heavily modified and they all seem to be accepting. Heck, the majority of the ford street rods have chevy engines!

Correct me if wrong, but aren't 1974's rarer, as in lower production numbers, too.

I had one guy in my own place tell me that my 70 gran coupe was some how inferior to his 73 cuda because he had A cuda and I didn't. then I had to school him that my car is an N code 4-speed one of 341. he didn't know what  N code meant, then I explained A base cuda was A 383 4-barral high performance N code. thus making my car A base cuda in A fancier package. then I walked away.

They very well may be, but be honest the DB was pushing his chest out because of Mecum (big auction companies) values of the 70-71 vs the later years.

I find his comment extremely interesting and would have had to continue the conversation just to satisfy my curiosity.  Personally, I own a '71 however it is because that is the year that I like the best.  If I liked a '73 the best then that is what I would own.  Prices on the '70 - '71's are high because that seems to be what the majority of people do like but personally, I would pay '70 - '71 prices for a '72, '73 or a '74 if that was what I wanted.  Keeping in mind that my car has never even seen the light of day since I purchased it and started the restoration, I have posted pictures before when needing help or sharing information with others and have received all kinds of flack and negative comments on my car about things that are not OE or not correct for a '71 or whatever.  Personally, I don't really care what anyone thinks of MY car.  I did not build MY car for anyone's approval other than mine.  Someone could offer me way under or way over the value of the car and it doesn't matter.  Any car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.  To say a '72 - '74 is worth less than a '70 - '71 is just dumb in my opinion.  If I do ever take my car to a show, I will park it next to any other car there because I just don't care.  If you don't like it, don't look at it.  To each their own . . . I have a love for cars and an appreciation for all of them.  Just because it's not my favorite or everyone's desired year doesn't mean that someone settled for it.  It just may be that it is what they have always wanted.
