Wish you folks a lot of luck. Hope it decides to miss you, but hey we'll keep our fingers crossed for ya. I know what the hurricane heavy hitters are like. When I was stationed at NAS Pensacola in 1969 I was remanded to the base during hurricane Camille's visit, she was real nasty! Now of course I'm 30 miles from shakey town ( Los Angeles ) I wonder why they call it that?.........Hmmmmm
        Thanks,   Al

Keep safe everyone down there. Praying for a big turn north into the ocean .
Just went thru Harvey here north of Houston , 20 " of rain, lived in Fla 20 years starting in 1990 , been thru all the storms down there it it is not fun.
yes, you have warning but also have uncertainty and stress .
One brother still down there, moved our Mom out here to Texas earlier this year.

Damn, that path dosen't look good for Florida, I just saw the damage to St Martin, that beautiful island, was just there for a friends wedding a few years ago. Stay safe everyone in Florida and good luck.

Certainly looks like Florida is in this monster hurricane's path . . . prayers for all involved!  Appears there are going to be plenty of flooded cars from both Florida and Texas . . .
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

The  track models shifted it west, bringing it right up the middle of the state. 650 thousand people in South Florida have been ordered to evacuate. All northbound roads out of the south are bumper to bumper, cars running out of gas , overheating etc. Very hard, if impossible to find bottled water, lines at all gas stations.  :rebelflag"

I'm staying, have all my supplies. House is very strong, been thru several in the past. Worst part is how long the power will be out.   :rebelflag"

Sounds like the "Typhoon Parties" we use to have on Guam.... Drive out to the end of the Glass Breakwater during a Cat 4 & toast the biggest waves....  Did it for three storms,,, The third one was scary & figured it was probably best not to do it again.....

Cool! Although...looking at how exposed you would be, lucky you lived?
Why was it called the 'Glass Breakwater'?

QuoteWorst part is how long the power will be out.

I work for the county that surrounds Orlando, and have been assigned emergency duties.  I agree with Mark, no clue how bad, and how long it will take to get the power restored.  We were out several days for Jean in 2004, and that was a nothing burger compared to Irma.

Hopefully the tract will change, again, and move offshore.  At least if it does come up through the Everglades, that will knock it down some before it hits populated areas.
