My local Ty Rods swap meet is coming up in a couple of months here in CT. Every year I go and comb through all of the lawn mowers & Camaro/Mustang parts in the hopes of stumbling across a piece of Mopar gold.

What are your most amazing Mopar swap meet finds?

Cuda Cody

Some of my best memories in life are spent with friends at swap meets.  The list of cool things you can find at them is pretty long.  Plus all the cool people you meet.

We used to take a truckload of sheetmetal home from the Bellevue swap meet every year inn the glory years. $20 seemed to be the standard price for a rustfree fender or door. I think my best find was an NOS AM8TRK bezel for my 69 GTX. Never found an Air Grabber master cylinder boot for it though.

Not technically a swap meet story, but a great "find" nonetheless ...

Late '80's Los Angeles, I had a '70 Chally 'vert for my daily driver and a '69 big-block Dart bracket car at the time. I'm at one of the big Pick Your Part yards plucking a few odds and ends for the Dart. I hear the engine of the yard's big forklift coming down the lane so I stop what I'm doing and make sure I well out of it's way. I look up and low and behold the forklift is carrying a '71 Chally RT 'vert!!  :takealook:

It had been hit pretty good in the left front, but the rest of it was in great shape. As soon as the forklift set it down I jumped on it and claimed first dibs to it. I tried to buy the whole car but the yard manager wouldn't sell it to me whole - worth more in parts. So I took the dash, interior, top and all the top hydraulics. Would have taken those impossible to find convertible quarters too if I had a way to cut them off!!   Best part was that the yard had "flat-rate pricing - they priced by part - not what the part came off of. They had a price chart with their prices clearly posted in their office and prices were dirt cheap - even for then. For me it was the best find I ever had bar none.
Cheers!

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)

Now that's a find! The rear interior panels alone are worth a mint today.

Funny you say that. They were white and I took them to a swap meet and none other than Randy, our own "1 Wild R/T" bought them off of me.  :handshake:
Cheers!

Add I sent them to Just Dashes where they wrapped them in black vinyl.... They are currently in my Challenger.... Have been since 96....  Heck I bought them around 87-88 at a excellent old Mopar show called Power in the Pines....

I applaud your effort, long drive for a car gathering.... But I love the venue, where you live it's just average but compared to here where I live it's pretty spectacular...

I know it's not a Mopar but bought this at spring Carlisle to hang in my barn

At one Spring Fling a got: mint GTS door emblems, 67-early 68 stainless wheel molding not-dented, dart rocker spear all for $80. The door emblems sell for over $250, moldings $200+, spear $50. And more than price, just very hard to find.

Some other Spring/Fall Fling swap scores:

I found a 1971-71 Datsun 240Z ash tray in a dollar box at Spring Carlisle 10+ years ago. I sold it a couple years ago for $250.  :) I haven't scored big on any Mopar stuff yet.

My finds aren't very impressive but they made me happy.

Picked up a Carter AFB for a Hemi clone build for a whopping $5, turns out it was originally from a 273 hipo.

Last year, I spied a pair of factory 70-71 Hemi valve covers that needed some work and nabbed 'em for $100.

I bought this complete 340 Shaker set-up for $1400 at Carlisle on a Thursday....was pissed at myself because it ate up a bunch of my money for the weekend.....but when I got home I sold it for $3000 so all was okay... :D
