Finally picked up all my trim mouldings. Dropped it off in November, LOL. Not much you can do when there's only a couple of good quality moulding restorers in the state. At least I get to keep on almost all of my original bright trim, the only thing I had to replace with aftermarket was the front windshield surround.

Got bad news: my painter got caught by the city, so now I have to get the car out ASAP. I still have to install the rear end and put the damn engine together. Arg!

ugh!  Freakin Denver.  What a cess pool.
Let me guess, can't paint things in your garage shop?
Gotta be licensed to the hilt and pay their tax fines?
That sucks!!
Can he do it in your shop, before the "city" catches on?

Pretty much. I have just enough room in the garage for either the car or the engine/trans/diff, but not both. Not really sure what I'm going to do at the moment, especially with having to pack and move in a few weeks, pretty frustrating. I meet with him tomorrow to discuss.

I *finally* found my horn button! It was in a random box with 'save for posterity' parts. I thought it all blue, but I'm 100% wrong - oddly, it's blue rubber that was painted black? Why didn't they just use all black rubber for the production run to save $$?

How do I refinish the blue rubber? It's oil stained and I've tried several products to remove it, but it still looks too dirty

So today I finished installing the steering wheel, column wiring and all the door rubber.

Also figured out a game plan. Picking up engine/diff tomorrow, diff gets installed Tuesday and the engine goes into my garage and hopefully we'll get it built before I move. I'll park the barracuda in the driveway under cover later this week, ready for the motor/tranny install and get a few more bits installed. It won't be running, but most major parts should at least be in place to make the move easier.

Should be blue.
I purchased a red steering wheel center at carlisle and the center horn button is red.

It's definitely odd. I know it's the original piece and on the reverse side I can clearly see it's made of blue rubber, but it's definitely black on top with its silver ring. dad said it's never been off the car, so I have to assume it was built that way (Aug '69 build date. Maybe an early production thing??)

If I was closer I would port that head for you before you install it , makes a huge difference !

I wish you were too!! I did do some minor port work to clean up the casting lines, a little bit of smoothing, but not too much because I know these heads have a thin casting and some gasket port matching, mostly on the exhaust side. I didn't do bigger valves, but I did have them back cut to improve the flow and velocity a little. I might have accidentally shaved the head a tiny bit too much though, I was shooting for around 9:1 compression and I might be closer to 9.3, I'll know better tomorrow.
