Not much getting done but I did get the mirrors painted and reassembled.  Pass mirror was fun smacking the mirror post back into place but got it in without breaking it...

Soaked the pedals, seat tracks, e-brake and just about everything I can in evapo-rust, after rinse and dry I coated the bare pieces with RPM or satin clear.  Pedals assembled.  Painting the dash / steering column stuff next week.

Nice work. That stuff is enjoyable to do.

Turns out I am a retard, left some holes in the firewall, so one step back (2-3)  :barf:

Welded them up and ground smooth.  I should be able to get to repainting the firewall this weekend.

Roll your masking tape, No edge or paint line that way.  :alan2cents:

JS29,
I can tell you have painting experience that's awesome! , for me rolling the tape works good along with foam tape. I use both and whatever fits best I use.  I can roll tape ok, (not great) it does take some practice.

I roll it over my knee, I have had painters that do it like the second video but it gives a good demonstration on how to do it easily.

Video reference for both that have no idea what were talking about:

You probably have way more than that!

Stayed after work tonight got it done..  Had to wait for the booth.

Its late and I am tired so just some quick pics.  Sprayed basecoat blending it in and 2 coats of clear before pulling the foam tape.

Checked coverage with high intensity light after second coat and added one more just to be sure I had full coverage.

JS29

That look's like you have it covered, Nice paint booth.  Is that a dealer or independent bodyshop?

Rbob

Thank you JS,

The booth is pretty old but still works great.  When I moved it to my new shop (I had it built in 1998) I converted it from semi down draft to full down draft/drive thru; I put doors on the back wall so I dont have to back cars out/move cars out of the way etc.

One thing I did not mention is that before pulling the foam tape I mist coated clear blender along the foam tape so it melts in real nice.

I made some spray outs of the interior paint, I think the original had texture (not 100% sure but suede in the description)

Color is not perfect but I can adjust it.  I did 2 spray outs one with flat clear and one with soft touch flat clear.  The soft touch is flat but has the soft touch feel.  Its made by BigBrain, it has my attention and people that do firearms use it among others.

Taking the week off so nothing happening till next week.
