OMG, does this never end?!! Whoever did this to this car, should be cutting meat somewhere, not working on cars! I'd take a real long look at the amount of repairs to that cowl versus the cost of replacing it. However, I hear you about shipping costs and maybe sweat equity comes out ahead. What determined the K frame was bent for you? If you lay it on a flat piece of floor and it doesn't rock, then you can most likely pull any other damage, like a pushed arm or such. It's a PITA to hook it up, but if you've got some mates in the trade, you may get lucky. Best to take a real careful inventory of everything you're going to need in case you have to make an order from Blighty, God help us, all! If you could finagle some shipping, there's probably some way we could round some of that stuff up for you. Just my  :alan2cents:

I'm going to weld the holes on the firewall and try to reshape the blower motor hole from egg shape to round  ::)

Wow that tunnel really is a mess, honestly I can't believe what people perceive as acceptable workmanship, it's bloody scary! Saying that, that's actually pretty good going for a blind drunken monkey I'm guessing  :drunk:

I laid the K member on my garage floor which I know is def flat. If I put a tiny amount of pressure on the front LH bolt hole the frame lifts in the air easily. If I put pressure on the RH front bolt hole I have to really push it down to get the frame to lift.
I put a level across the holes front to back, on the RH side of the frame the level has to be lifted at the rear to get the same reading as the LH side.

I had a good look and a measure yesterday and the RH frame rail has been pushed to the right I suspect by a hydraulic ram or similar. The indents in the frame suggest it was bent to the left but on the out side of the frame there is a large indent at the base of the frame rail where it meets the firewall, so it's def been pushed to the right. Prob to straighten it up enough to drive. I tried to get a pic but it's hard to see.

Going to crack on tomorrow and try get a bit more done.

I keep forgetting to ask but is it right for the rear footwells to sit on top of the front floor, just by about 1 1/2"? Looks like that's how it was designed.

My 73's hole for the fan is not round either, maybe it's supposed to be egg shaped? (I'm replacing the whole firewall and cowl on this one).

I think they changed designs in 73 or 74?   :notsure:  But they should work the same.  What looks different?

Yes the later ones`73-4 look different but nothing really changed as far as fitment, only slant 6 and Hemi k frames are different than the V8 ones.

That firewall looks like no problem and considering where you are I would fix up the floor and trans hump. Is there any way in heck you know anyone over there with an E-body that you can get a feel for what the K-member should look like? I am thinking a good fab guy with some smarts can straighten it with some heat and applied force. However he would have to know what a good one looks and measures like. And if you get a replacement you just need a 70-74 V8 E-body K-member in good shape.

That's a good idea.  How much is it to ship a K member to him?  Looks like there's a few to pick from between $75 and $100.  If he can get it shipped for anything under $100 he might be time and money ahead to start with a good used one.   :dunno:

Yeah, that would be the best, I am assuming $300-$400 just for shipping and duties etc. maybe I'm wrong though.
