Yes: My GTX was a real Hemi car. By the time I had painted the trunk, under the hood and jams I was ready to try the rest. Paint was cheaper then and I had to respray about 3 panels (single stage metallic) but I figured I had nothing to lose and would get a pro to paint it if it didn't come out good enough. It was okay as a driver and I sold it before I wanted to repaint it. Today I would do BC/CC in a second if I had a shop in the country with no neighbors around.

Yes I feel the Eastwood Concourse gun for the money is a great gun. I never used a Sata gun but I would love to try one to see the difference. I've used devilbiss and sharp and I got the same results. You would have to think a gun that cost 3x the price has to be better but what the difference is I'm not sure. I'm sure the guys with the Sata guns can chime in and say what it does. Good luck.

Sata has A much better pattern, wider fan and puts more material out. grate flow but you have to be careful to not put on to much at once.  :alan2cents:

Echoing other comments. I'd rather spend $280 on a quality gun vs spending $250 on two guns in a kit.

But the guns are probably fine.

Devilbiss is good stuff too. SATA is great.

btw, you will need more than a 1.3 tip. You'll have to have a 1.6-1.8 for many primers, which you will be spraying a lot of...more so priming than painting for a quality job.

I have a devilbiss finishline 3. It's an old heavy HVLP gun. If I painted more, I'd keep it as a primer-only gun and splurge on a more modern top-coat gun.

While on the subject what do you have in the way of an air compressor?   Need lots of clean dry air....

A PUMA 5 HP single stage, 60 gallon tank. If I remember correctly I think it is 18cfm@90psi.

Should be plenty of volume & pressure..... How about clean & dry?    With Dry being the key....

What should I do to ensure a dry supply? 20-30 feet of copper line with a moisture trap at the end?

Most recommend a minimum of 50 ft....  Personally I take advantage of gravity to help get moisture out of the air....   Forcing the air to rise so water falls out of suspension...  I cool the air coming from the pump before it goes to the tank & again after it leaves the tank to supply my shop.... When painting I add a desiccant filter but honestly it probably isn't needed the copper condensing coils are very effective....

Wow!   Never do anything half-assed eh Wild?
Thanks for the inspiration. I'll make the condensing lines one of my winter projects. I live in Ontario, Canada and have 6 months of unstreetable weather.
What size are those copper lines? 1/2", 3/4"?

although I don't have a lot of painting experience I do have some. I bought a Finex 300 by Sharpe for an auto body night school I did a decade ago. It worked well and only the kid with the satajet came close to my results. It is a mid range price gun and would be fine for a non pro. I lent it to my younger brother and he made the mistake of shooting heavy flake through it and did not clean it. Urge. Life lesson, don't lend out your tools to idiots.he bought my a crap replacement.

So the next time I needed to paint I got a 3M Accuspray gun. It's set up with replaceable;disposable tips for production shops and I love. Super easy clean up and has the pps cups with liners. I did some BC CC on a spoiler and it sprayed really well.if you hate clean up like me it might be a good option.

RUNCHARGER

Yes, you don't lend out the wife and you don't lend out spray guns. I don't mind cleaning them and probably overdo it however it isn't worth taking a chance.

I had the 1/2" copper lines from a project, they had been sitting in the corner of my shop for 6-7 years.....  I bought all the fittings online for about $40 the bleed valves hung me up cause the style I thought I was going to use that look like a radiator petcock got expensive... Like $5 a valve, they use to be less than a buck.... So I found these valves...  Never mind, they jacked those up too.... I bought them a few years ago for .84 each now they are $7.... But I saw the petcock style at home depot for less then $4 each... I used 11 valves...
