If you need a powertrain I recalled this Facebook post

"From a 70 Challenger RT I have a 70 383 mag with numbers matching 3 speed stick Complete top to bottom with 38k on it. Also has the matching radiator. There were 335 Rts made with the 3 speed stick. I would like to find someone that needs this for there RT or I would like to find a 70 Challenger RT missing the motor and 3 speed and purchase it so this engine combo isnt wasted."

What are the chances it's the original driveline ?

That is way better odds than winning the lottery ...

I was thinking chances are better than average that could match up. No matter anyway, it would be well worth getting that package for this car. Little bits add up and in this case I think it would really be neat to make this car "right".

Basket case cars are tough to build and costly and I keep telling myself not to do it again but it must be like some sort of drug and I keep doing it. Never again! ( unless I stumbled across another one ) but that's it! Good luck with it.

In one sense they are, but sometimes you just end up replacing EVERYTHING anyways....stuff like a missing grill, bumpers or marker lights, if you're doing a full restoration, you're going to want new ones anyways ?

You have one of 2076 383 auto R/T SE Challengers
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

I admire you for planning to bring it back to original, per tag at least. Doing a 70 RT myself.

Talked to the guy with the 383 3 spd setup.  He wants $3000 firm for it.  And it's in Wisconsin.  Not exactly close to me.

Also checked the VIN.  Not from my car.

I feel your pain, but; whats the chances you're gonna come across another setup that exactly what you need?
Does it need to be rebuilt?

He claims there are 38K miles,  but there's no proof. 383s  are easy to get.  I have a line on an e body 3 speed, too.
