I was just at the shop Friday and they're doing a warranty on a Charger.   The insurance company sent a junkyard motor with. 100k miles on it - $6900. That was just motor.

That's a $1500 engine at best in the real world.

Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

It sure seems backwards to remove all the technology from a modern engine  :Thud:

I think I'm educating them on the install.  But the engineers nailed it on the 392 engine.

Sleepychallenger

It did run pretty dang well.

Carb = Controlled fuel leak
EFI is so much better ,  :bigthumb: especially with 8 individual coils

CudaMoparRay

I remember seeing Hemi valve covers on a 3rd gen that made it look like a 2nd gen outside with the famous 4 plugs but underneath keeping the 8 coil on plugs.
An EFI dual carb setup that looked like a traditional hemi intake manifold/carb than the plenum look.

I understand why some have a hard time taking a modern hemi back to the stone age lol but if it can be done cheaper than a "Real 2nd gen" and keep the iconic looks, why not?

1. Weighs less because it would be all aluminum so even less than a 360 small block better handling than the iron elephant

2. Would retain the Lion's share of the modern technology

3. And for me the most important, it would have the look that I consider the best looking Hemi's ever made. WOW factor , big time!

4.Better running, better gas mileage, better performing and way better durability than the old hemi

OK let the burning begin  :haha:

Topcat

if I keep my foot out of carbs and stay under 70 mph on a freeway, I can get 14-16 MPG.
I think that's pretty respectable gas mileage.

If I were doing a Gen III the Hellcat krate engine would be a no brainer.
And it probably fits under the hood.

Downside is you can't do a legit Shaker on it.

So there goes your Wow factor.
