6.1 Hemi/NAG 1 in 70 Challenger

Here is my swap. For my 1970 Challenger convertiible. I got a 6.1 Hemi with a NAG1 from a 2006 Charger. I also got the harness (but I got a new one from Hotwire), computers, shifter, gas pedal from the car. First I was gonna use my 727, but I changed my mind and went with the NAG1. I ordered most of the parts from Bouchillion, harness and programming from Hotwire Auto, gastank and pump from Tanks Inc. Here is a list of the parts I ordered.

• Milodon oil pan
• Milodon oil pickup
• Milodon Dipstick w. tube
• Griffin radiator with 2 fans
• Upper and lower radiator hoses
• TTI engine mounts
• TTI ceramic coated headers fitting Hemi/727/T-bars
• Oil filter adapter
• Oil filter short
• Fittings for AC compressor
• Power steering pump with reservoir
• Cold Air kit
• Serpentine belt
• Air Charge Sensor
• GPA-4 - High Flow Fuel Pump Module
• Fuel Tank Sending Unit
• 24" Strap Liner
• Dodge Challenger Fuel Injection Gas Tank
• Challenger Gas Tank Straps
• Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator with Gauge
• NAG1 tone ring and 2 speed sensors
• Harness Hotwire Auto

Has anyone put a total cost on what the parts cost to make a swap like this?

The swap progess is slow since I got the car in 2k epoxy now and adding body reinforcements and will change the trunk floor and fix some bad patches. I got the Milodon pan on the engine though, I got the wrong oil pickup, so I cut it and reclocked it so it fitted. Next step is cleaning the block and paint it.  First pict is the wrong fit of the oil pickup (got one that fits a 2009 and up 5.7). Next pict is the fix.

For me, (the parts I listed so far):
Bouchillion:  $3952
Tanks Inc: $680
Hotwire Auto: $2409

Correction: The Bouchillion order also has the stuff to run a 727 tranny in the price, flexplate, kickdown wire etc. I did not list those since I sold them, so take about 200 off that price.

All including shipping (US shipping, to a friend in WA who ships to me in container)

There will be some more stuff later, I'm sure. Forgot to buy sparkplugs, need AC hoses etc.

What's a donor engine go for?  Are they pretty easy to find?

6.1's, 4-7000 depending on the milage, tranny etc. There is a few on e-bay. You can find a 5.7 cheaper.
I just bought a 5.7 for $2700 with harness and computer. For my next car. Thats a good deal here in Sweden.
We usually have 30-40% higher prices than you.

where did you get your oil filter adapter from?  Was it a 45 degree angle one?

The filter with/without an adapter will not fit with a k-member.  If your running a tubular type, then it will fit.  @MoparDave can get you an adapter.

Best route in not an adapter but use a block off plate & route hoses from the side of the block out to a remote filter set up

Thanks, I'll probably run the factory K member at first, then as funds open up, switch to the alterkation setup.

That might help make oil changes a breeze also

Yes, a 45 degree adapter, it will fit the stock K-member with a slight mod. and a short filter.
I got it from Bouchillion.

We did the same mod believing the same mis information , we had to trim the entire lip off the adapter , the K frame still hit the filter & the filter was not removable without undoing the engine mount & lifting the engine .
Trust me this will not work , use a block off plate , if you have not cut the adapter don't just return it .
