Well just took the car on its very first road test, Went very well it stopped, went straight and ran great. One item is first gear is a little harder to get in but the rest is perfect maybe a little adjustment on the rod to get it in first easier(  I would lengthen the rod I assume ?)Just eased it around our little town but my god it feels like the motor could destroy the car but very well behaved. Im pretty pumped right now.

We have a 572 built by Tim also, I believe the motor could destroy the car.

Well, all was good till yesterday ran great then parked it, and this morning started up ran great for 20 seconds and then started misfiring badly. so changed plugs and coil no diff, changed msd box no diff, only thing I can think of is the pick-up in the dissy. ? What do you guys think? this thing is killing me. :pullinghair:

Good grief!  :sorry:  Sounds like distributor, hopefully Neil will see this soon. @Chryco Psycho

Chryco Psycho

sounds lie you have eiminated everything else , what dist are you using , have you checked the gap between the pick up & reluctor , it should be .008 , make sure it is tight , the pick up can fail a sit warms up too

cordodge

Thanks guy's,  yeah its a factory one that came with the motor. I'll try a new pick up and hopefully that will fix it. it is funny it runs great for 20 seconds then starts to misfire

With the Mopar Performance distributors, I've seen the reluctor plate come loose, I've seen them move around.....I'm surprised Tim didn't suggest an upgrade.
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Well yes ill be upgrading for sure but I changed the pick up and still the same. think ill switch the tires next lol, I have no idea whats going on. I ran separate new temp wires to the dizzy, and coil, no change im about to run a temp red wire to 12 volt ignition to see if that helps. after that im going to get hammered........

Chryco Psycho

are the wires reversed to the pick up , if the plug was cut off & reconnected it can cause a problem .
It could be a fuel problem too

Thanks for the help Chryco, yeah I have changed every possible electrical point with zero change. I have 5.5 lbs to the carb not sure where to look for a fuel problem as it starts right up great and 15/20 seconds in it starts to run like crap and its a abrupt change?

Sorry yes the dist, plug has not been changed as it ran great last week. I did actually try and reverse them but it just popped back through the carb

Chryco Psycho

I had an issue once where I extended the wires for the dist & reverse the polarity & it ran great most of the time but once in a while it would act up , reversed the wires & the problem vanished

well ill try that, I have nothing to lose lol. will that effect the timing?

RUNCHARGER

Maybe look inside the carb and change the fuel filter too. It could have some dirt past the fuel pressure gauge.
