Stopped by the bodyshop today. They are painting it again as they were not happy with the results. Tough colour to paint they said? Maybe get it back atvthe end of next week.

While rebuilding my column, I also started modifying a spare crush can by shortening it about 1 inch.
Set up in the lathe and sliced it apart at the crest of two of the raised bumps.
Will work feature profile back in after welding.
Should be invisible when done.

I bought a redline rotisserie, should be here in about a week,finally can make some progress, will be selling my frame jig soon

Visited mine today at the body shop, almost done, just some polishing left to do. Sure has a nice shine to it!

Thanks, Yes , it's going to be a busy summer! Sure will be nice to get it back together as I also have the Javelin apart and I have parts stored everywhere.... They seem to have done a great job. They even straightened the hood bow and repainted the hood. New trunk pans and drop offs, sure is sweet to get rid of all the previous owners rattle can black in the door jams and inside of trunk lid was still the original burnt orange, its all shiny sublime now !  I also polished up all the stainless while it was off, it sure pops against the new paint !

Yesterday:
Finished necessary portion of dash and installed.
Completed rebuild of steering column and installed.
All plumbing for exhaust installed.
Starter wiring installed and wrapped with heat shielding.
Today:
4+ hours of nervous energy cleaning up and going over all that remains.
Turbo oil feed lines tight.
Fuel pump rewired.
O2 sensor hole temporarily plugged.
Full synthetic oil added.
Battery reinstalled.

Running out of excuses to test.
Not ready to start. Turbo drains are below car into a bucket.
Want to confirm they are oiling before attempting to start.
So close...

I like the woodgrain with the aftermarket gauges, kind of harkens to the original. For some reason I didn't realize you're running a stick behind the turbos! After a long build I'm always wary before starting it up as well, I usually take a day or 2 before firing it to triple check everything and go over in my mind what I might have missed.

Yea the 4 speed.
Sold the 70 pistol grip shifter and purchased a new mechanism.
Current (old school) handle will be replaced proper when car is running.

As the 2024 Ontario Hot Rod tour draws nigh and my ambition had a momentary blip, I ran the dusty old gal out in the driveway in the shadows and gave 'er a foam bath. Because of logistics, this involved dragging the brides backyard hose through the garage and realizing that I was suffering the embarrassment of having not enough hose ( I know, I know) and having to draft the brides side hose. (she's always been good regarding issues of not enough hose, heh heh) I got cooled off a bit, when I disconnected that hose it went off, since she'd left the valve on. Good thing the water was nice and cold, as my face had suddenly gotten a lot hotter! Muttering bad words and carrying the 50' hose, full of water as it pissed on my foot made a nice beginning to the day's work! I'll get my foam gun, thought I! What a dummy! I found the gun, but none of the Gardena couplings would fit. WTF?! It only took a few trips into the cellar looking where the water gear is kept, to convince me that that was a dry (get it?) hole. Anyways, after I'd finally found the connector, son Nick and I hosed her down, swabbed her and rinsed her. Nick got out the Stihl blower and blew her (be nice). Then we wetted down the garage to lay the dust, as Nick wanted to apply the ceramic kit he'd bought me for Christmas. This is where the defecation hit the oscillation. Following the time honoured custom of semi or not at all following the directions which said do 2 ft sections, this seemed to Nickyboy a waste of time and accordingly, with the permission of his dolt, I mean dad, he applied the coating to the entire car! And then, discovered that it really didn't want to play nice and buff out! There ensued a 3 hour buff-a-thon trying to get this $hit off!! We finally, with the aid of a buffer, got it buffed out about the same time that incipient tennis elbow was threatening to make it impossible. 14 microfibre towels later, it shines! God please keep all the bad dust away from the garage until it's time to take 'er out for the run! Hope you guys had a fun day too!
