Over 16 for a dog & 22+ for a cat are terrific! I lost one of my cats back in August @ 13+ the other cat & both dogs are up there a bit. I pray they live a lot longer lives. They are my kids & can't imagine being without them!

My thoughts & prayers go out the members who have recently lost their "Fur Babies" They give us unconditional love & are such a big part of our families!

God Bless

So our Australian Shepherd Freyja has been very depressed and moping around the house since Vixie passed last month as she has no one to herd anymore (the cats don't herd very well, they just give her a swat when she tries to herd them).

So we have a new companion coming for Freyja when we pick her up on Friday.

She is a long haired Siberian Husky that is 9 weeks old, no name as of yet, still mulling it over.

My daughter is holding her, here she is:

Cool!! Sibe's are great dogs, but they can be a handful...  DAMHIK...

Congrats!

Welcome her to her new family and teach her to sing.

Here's my crew.  We lost the old yellow girl this past Christmas.  She was the mother/grandmother of our pack.

Wow!  :unbelievable:
That looks like a lot 'o' work!
I only have two dogs and I swear they poop like a dozen. I can only imagine the amount of scoopin' time you have logged.  :Thud:

I actually built a fifty foot long wooden walkway that is fenced that leads from a deck off this room to a large fenced couple acres.  A few times a year I simply pressure wash the woods..  it works much better than it sounds.  They have a pretty good setup. Heat pump, hence AC! Four cameras around the woods to keep an eye on them at all times.  But you're right overall a pile of work!!

I believe I posted a pic before but here is our dog, Bodi. Unfortunately I think his time is coming. Berners average life span is 7-8 years old I have been told, he is 12 now. On Saturday night we spend 4 hours ( 11 pm - 3 a.m.) at the Vet Emergency center. Not sure what but something happened earlier that night. He is getting a bulge on his left side and was very unsettled and drinking a lot. After all the tests it was inconclusive but thoughts are he might have a tumor on his spleen and it might have burst. He has to go today to have it aspirated so we know what we are dealing with. If it is blood then it's only a matter of time, if it's other fluid then we can look at treatment but he is at a fragile age and we know he wouldn't survive a surgery. His quality of life would be severely compromised. He's at a point where you have to help pick up his back end when he wants to get up. I don't like this part of pet ownership, I don't handle it well.

It upsets me reading this.... they are so apart of our lives, like children. They teach us what unconditional love looks like.  :sorry:

My condolences , Dogs are awesome but never live long enough , dealing with the loss is the hardest part as they really are about unconditional love .  :bye:

So so sorry, that sucks.... Dogs are just the same as our children even though we know that we will outlive them....

I just went through this with our papillion who was 15 years old, knew it was coming but still didn't prepare us for it.....

Now we have a Siberian Husky puppy that is just like having a toddler, gets into everything, gotta puppy proof the home....

Sorry to hear Bodi isn't doing well, it really is the hardest part of having pets, we've all been there... Yet some how most of us find another friend to bring home & offer a better life to..... Which mostly makes our lives better too....

I hope Bodi turns out to be okay, but if not I hope he doesn't suffer...
