Thanks Lol I feel dumb. Also what is the size socket for the pitman arm that connectors to the steering box?

Yes, it's best just to replace that lower ball joint with a new one.  Rock Auto gives us 5% off and they sell both Moog and AC Delco.  Either of those will be good.

Thanks I'm so use to the lowerball joint being in the lower control arm. Another  question I have is what size socket is needed for the pitman arm nut connected to the steering box?

I do not recall.  I would have to crawl under a car to check.  My first few days of the week are pretty busy, but I plan to be in the shop all day Thursday and can find out for you (if someone else doesn't already know the answer).  Just PM me or remind me on Thursday morning if you still need the size and I will get it for you.

1-5/16" 12 point is a little loose , don't have a 6 point to check if that fits better, I am thinking it would slightly.

Thanks guys for the info. Another thing should I get my steering box rebuild or just get a reman from rock auto?

If money is tight, it will be hard to beat the price Rock Auto is going to give you and I'm sure it would be fine.  But I personally would have Firm Feel rebuild mine to better / firmer then new specs.  They drive so nice with a nice tight steering box.

What's there price to rebuild 1 ?

For me the LCA is the hardest part in a front end rebuild. Yes, you have to press out the LCA bushing and sleeve and press a new one in. I fight the old one with an air chisel, other guys have luck welding a strap across the old bushing sleeve and pressing it out.

Hmmm since I don't have a press. I'm going to see if I could use the one at my job. Where do I get the bushing for the LCA?

Well got done taking the dash, heater box and other miscellaneous stuff apart along with sanding the engine bay. Trying to get the front end cleaned up so I can primer it and paint it. I can't seem to get the steering box off the steering shaft. I took that little pin out but it's still stuck. Also do I need a new heater box because I'm  not to sure if mines is complete or broken in places?

They sell the outside sections of the heater box.

I generally use two pickle forks together to split the steering box from the coupler if they're stubborn.
