Years ago I got into the prepper thing. I was able to get a pretty good stock pile of everything
we would need in an emergency. When the bottom fell out of my business to years ago
I already had everything we would need to last maybe a year with no reliance on anything or anybody else.
My wife and kids thought I was crazy.
Now they don't think it was a bad idea.

Food
Water
Security
Solar chargers for lights and electronics
Generator
Cooking
Hygiene
First aid

Having said that I lived in NY on Long Island my whole life. After the first bombing at the WTC in '93 and the world affairs
at that time I moved my family of the Island and to GA.
That was in '97
In 2001 when the attacks on our homeland occurred my friends and family that were still on Long Island were stuck there.
The only way off was by boat. All the bridges and tunnels in NYC were closed.
In the mid 2000's I started to read into the "crazy people" who called themselves preppers.
Not so crazy I thought.

So here we are. A pandemic declared. Panic has taken over. Stores emptied. Everything shutting down. Some towns and Cities calling out the National Guard.
Not pretty.....

I hope and Pray this will not be as bad as some of the worst case scenarios predict.

Stay safe my friends and lets all hope/pray for this to be nothing more than a severe strain of the flue that can be fought off.

Pretty sure Ontario, or at least our area around Toronto will be going on complete lock down this coming week, just like major cities in Italy. :alan2cents: you heard it here first :drinkingbud:

Without supplying as many details, let's just say I agree with @71-440  on many levels. I made a prediction last night at the dinner table and my slowly learning wife said no way. My prediction? Illinois government has shut down churches, restaurants and pubs. Now the only mass gathering places are stores that are getting crazier. Hotbeds for spreading. They will eventually shut them down too. Then it's time to prepare defense from riots, looters and roving home invaders. I've said all along that zombies were real. Not in a sense of risen corpses, but starving, sick, and/or panicked people. Possibly even neighbors. I pray (and I do) that I'm wrong, but the ingredients are on full display.

:iagree:
It very well could be. I'm more worried about the economy than picking up covid19, which appears to be just another virus that is very survivable. (Special precautions for the susceptible/elderly of course)

I expect there will be another 'bailout' type of stimulus to help companies weather this event.

As for the people that feel the need to stockpile food etc. How many of us don't have a freezer with a fair amount of food in it? I'm pretty sure I could eat for at least a month with what I have on hand in frozen and canned food.
I have lake trout, walleye, deer, partridge, chickens, 4 or 5 pounds of bacon, a turkey, vegetables, hamburger...heck I might need more than a month to clean it all out. ::)

Weird...my son came home from work earlier today, he said people were buying ammo like crazy at Canadian Tire today....he did add that it was on sale though, and I'm sure hunting seasons are starting ?

Guns and ammo... They gonna shoot the virus??

Economy is the worst, Dow Jones down 9.7% right now, they stopped all trading....
