Oh man, you're killing me Brad. I really need to get back up there. It's been a few years.
the sun was setting behind in the west but the light was reflecting on the clouds to the east , the first picture the sun was highlighting the tops of 3 different storm clouds
Took this picture overlooking the Ottawa river on my farm a few years ago. I have 4000 feet of river frontage...too bad I couldn't sub divide...would be worth a small fortune! The farm is 529 acres.
The next picture is me standing beside an Eastern White Pine tree on the farm - anybody want to buy some logs for a log home let me know. I have a couple hundred thousand board feet of pine - all of them are 36-60 inches in diameter over 250 years old. I have about 350 acres of bush that's never been logged. Lots of white oak and red oak plus sugar maple. Gonna buy me a band sawmill when I retire!
The third picture is the old homestead - the people moved out of here in 1947 into the "new" house built in 1929 down where the barn is..

If anyone ventures out to Arizona. The Grand Canyon is great, but Antelope canyon up North next to the Utah border is amazing. You basically walk through what looks like a big cow patty. There are cracks when you look up that give you amazing views with the sun shining down. This is on an Indian reservation, so they have to be your tour guide to collect your $.

Gators are pretty simple animals and it's not too hard to get them to move where you want them to. Usually.

Capable of well over a thousand ton configured differently. some of our chocker's were 6 inches in dia. Here is a pic of a SPMT self driven and capable of enormous amounts of weight, they are worth their weight in gold.

Turn of the century train station in my old home town; Glen Ridge, NJ
Town is one of only about 12 towns in the US that still has the original turn of century gas lamps instead of regular street lights. Always liked the old fashioned feel of the town.

Power company's are talking about cutting power under extreme weather conditions. If it is high winds and high fire danger they will cut the power to the area, "it will be a proactive approach". Probably from what happened from last years fires and lawsuits.

Funny you should mention this as I directly asked said folks of Northern Calif Utility "Why not cut the power if you know the winds will be over 90mph". The response was "We don't have the facility to do that and we will not cut power to 5 Million customers because of the wind" Needless to say I was floored.

Sockeye males turn to a Red body with a Green head later in their journey.
They don't really get too much bigger than those pictured.
Actually it's alot of work.
I must've done over 300 casts to get my limit of 3.

VFR (visual flight rating) from Montana area can be done, but it's too many extra miles.

Good thing he had cool neighbors cause the Calif state EPA air resources board would have slapped him silly with a big fine.
Heck you should see how many body shops around here are trying to sell their outdated paint booths to suckers. The new requirements make folks purchase booths that are near 250k now. My buddy's shop just had one installed last year and he is trying to recoup some of that cost.

We're on vacation in New York and you see a lot of old barns and silos on Hwy 20. But I thought this one was particularly interesting with the vines growing out of the top and down the side.
That picture was taken off Route 20 In Bouckville, NY south of I-90 between Hwy 46 and 128. Today we're in Ulster County and tomorrow we move on down to Jersey.

I'm through SFO once a month and for a big airport I think it's far superior to LAX and a lot of others.
SF sucks, dirty and smell bad like a toilet in many places. I take Uber or walk before taking public transportation.
SFO sucks because poorly designed circulation around the airport and very long lines going through TSA. I will need to go through there on the Labor Day weekend. Not looking forward to it.

Good luck sheep hunting! Lees than 2% success rate here in Alberta. We can hunt on a general tag - some areas full curl and some 3/4. Ya gotta be in shape to hunt those mothers!! I haven't been sheep hunting since 2000.... :('

Agreed on exotics. The Koenigsegg guy was only doing no more than 60. Was also being flanked closely by another person I believe was a protector.

Pictures of our new puppy after a recent rain storm when he was staying at my sons whose backyard is undeveloped as of yet. Not sure why the pictures keep coming out sideways?? They're right side up in my computer file.
Picture taken during our recent 12 day evacuation as a result of the Bald Mountain Fire last Oct in Utah. The roof line in the picture is my shop. We were much more fortunate than those who lost their houses in the Calif fires as several miracles occured along with a tremendous job by the federal "HOT SHOT" crews which resulted in not one house in our city being lost. After going through this we really feel for those who lost not only their homes but loved ones in those terrible Calif fires.

I've been told you don't want to get too close to them as they have bacteria which will make you very sick. Basically when they come to the surface and blow their blowhole you don't want to breath any of that in.

I visited the world's "best preserved meteorite impact" spot out in Arizona a few years back. I found it a little underwhelming. It is at least 20 miles out from any sign of life, so if you are low on gas...

Perhaps the most successful hunter in the Cat family is the Black footed Cat.
The black-footed cat is perhaps the smallest species of wild cat in Africa.
Black-footed cats average only 2.4 lb. to 4.2 lb. when fully grown.
This was yesterday I went outside the Golden Gate King Salmon fishing.
Some bigger Salmon caught but I wasn't one of those lucky to get a 20 plus Lber.
I ended up with 2 each, 12 lbers.

Lol yes there have been many jokes about having them on our cars. No idea of cost but replacement costs were slated to be less in the long run because they last much longer than the incandescents. They have a testing fixture to test the lumen output. Basically it sits on ground level and test eye is about 6ft up. Switch on light and it is unbelievably bright.
First tests proved it was over engineered. So we had to build a defusing lens for it. I have since left company making the molds but believe they are still in their qualification stage.
This is what Nuclear Power does to living things when we make mistakes or use Radioactive materials.

I fear that day with my lab. I don't know how I'll deal with it.
YES IT WAS A VERY HARD DAY. He was diagnosed with lymphoma at 9 years old. Given 4 to 6 weeks without any treatment. We don't have kids and Rocky was our kid so we sprung for the Chemo treatments. Cost us a little over $ 10,000.00 but we had him for 17 more months. Just can;t bring ourselves to get another.

I've seen several. A normal wild wolf will either run from you, watch you from a distance, or attack you. They don't cuddle with humans. Last one I saw was on the same day as the the moose I saw that I posted previously. We surprised each other at about 30 metres. He/she bolted. It was a large timberwolf. Biggest one I have ev er seen. Would have loved to have got a picture, but the encounter was over too fast.
I too have seen them in the wild , A spectacular big grey /black one was chasing a deer , the deer ran out into hte lease site loked around surprised & was gone , a few seconds later the wolf came through the lease site .
Not sure what is going on with this lady but she has a website & is constantly taking pictures of & with them , I believe she is in eastern Europe .
I knew this guy years ago who had a domesticated Wolf.
When I walked in; it was right there sitting, staring at me.

The spanish peaks are technically still in the sangre de cristo range. But they are kind of their own set of mountains.
The black mesa is a totally private area of colorado. just a handful of large land owners own it and keep everyone off.

CSUF parking is still atrocious. There is plenty of parking but because of cost, many just fill up the surrounding home areas.

I pretty much lived at the Marriott from 2004-2008. Sometimes the Embassy Suites or one of the local hotels. I was working for Apple and was in charge of bringing up the Foxconn Factory in Fullerton. It was set up in an old Albertson's warehouse. I would commute from Sac to John Wayne on Southwest.
BJ's was new at the time and completely packed with CSUF students so it was hard to get seating in the bar or you had to wait for a table. I never cared much for the Cheesecake Factory. I much more preferred Claim Jumper or Outback. In the end I could be found eating at the bar at Claim Jumper. Killed many a Long Island there - Apple was paying.
Taps was reserved for lunch with visitors. When Apple folks wanted to visit the factory that is where we took them for lunch. Fantastic food.
Sadly Apple made me move the factory to DFW which was a huge mistake but no one wants to listen to the Engineer at the factory.
Foxconn, Claim Jumper, Outback are all gone.
Warehouse is no longer Albertsons. But has greatly expanded for logistics transportation hub.
I once applied to work at Foxconn as I am a moldmaker by trade. Been my hometown for 24 years now.
This building did not say Foxconn on it, it said Q-Run. It was a Foxconn computer assembly operation that used to supply Compaq. It was across the street, but a little back towards Brea, from Home Depot.

This was almost 3 years ago when we first saw them for the first time.
This picture was taken when I first laid eyes on them at the Pet Smart rescue adopt at the Marin Fairgrounds.
They're spoiled rotten now with Pizza beds and Broths.
Leila the Tabby is a special needs since she had a gum disease and all her teeth removed.
Saturday mornings they like to wake me up. :Thud:
Soft food only for leila then. Interesting disease. Good thing she has such a great family now.
Only Saturdays? Wish I could train my cats to that schedule.

My cat was abandoned here because people thing the river will provide for their pets. So I took in the cat a spent thousands when she came down with a bad ear infection. She is still a great cat and I am a dog person.

My little black cat's name is Jedi. A trailer park neighbor of mine had two litters of cats at the same time, her dog killed all of them except he escaped the death and lived in my scaffolding for about 3 weeks til I could catch him. He's still a youngin.
The brown Tabbies name is Largetha. She was thrown out by another of the parks residents when they had a litter of kittens. Was in my back yard getting picked on by the other neighborhood cats. She couldn't find food and was weened too early. Took a while to get her truly healthy. She hid in a small area where the larger cats couldn't get to her.

Usually early spring we get huge, and I mean huge flocks of birds that land on the trees and lawns; thousands of birds that pick at the grass looking for what I think is a spring meal? Never saw this before moving next to a nature preserve. The sound of the birds actually scares my cat, sitting in the window looking at this "invasion" :o Almost looks like the scene belongs in a Hitchcock movie.

They do have cool personalities. Will follow me around when I am working in backyard.

Beautiful! That gets my blood flowing. It takes me back to 91 when I hiked in Yosemite. We climbed 2700 ft from the valley floor to a plateau that I don't recall the name of. There were 105 switchbacks it was so steep, but I can't recall the distance that covered. I sat on a rock shelf with my feet hanging over the edge looking down into the valley and watching large chunks of snow across the valley shift and slide of the face of Half Dome and fall into the valley below. There was about a three second gap between when the snow would hit and when I would hear the sound. We camped in about two feet of snow that night. It was one of the best 24 hours of my life!

Wow! You had a great time! 4 days and didn't see anyone, that sounds great. Very few folks venture into the bottom of the canyon. Well worth the hike back up.

The Elk are very difficult to hunt there as they will run up the walls in a matter of minutes while it takes us 8 hours like you mentioned to get up the canyon. Very difficult hunting area. That's why the elk get so big there. It's very difficult for their predators to get to them.

These creatures are known as Pyrosome's which are part of the Tunicate family.
They come from very deep trenches from up welling's...or trenches if you wish.
Researching, they are referred to or Nicknamed: Sea Dicks.
As we trolled, they would end up sticking on our down rigger lines.

Yeah, I picked it up out in Nebraska.
It's in great shape. Only a little rust on one rear bottom quarter on only the outer skin. A little rust on the front and rear windows which is typical for these C bodies.
This is my first C body.
1971 Chrysler Newport Custom 383 auto 35K miles. Runs great. starts great. I am going to have to replace the brake system as there is a little rust in the lines and it's causing a caliper to stick on the front rotor.
I'm super happy with the car. Nice interior, nice panels. Original paint all the way around. Needs some TLC but it's just a driver car for around town. My first C. I've had lots of pontiac more doors over the years and this is my first mopar more door.

In the round top that is blown half over is a 65 barracuda that has some beautiful paint work done to it. However it has about a 1/4" of Nebraska dust on top of it. No trim installed on it yet. The fella stalled on the rebuild and it sits.....
Sorry, I didn't get a pic of the barracuda. He was "protective" over that one car. All others are available.

Who likes slot cars. I was at this guys place last week.
Big part of my childhood , I started with Corgi & Dinky , then built models , around 71 I found slot cars , I was modifying them to make them faster mostly AFX HO scale , the next progression would have been Remote control but I was able to buy a Javelin for a few $$ more than an RC car
First day returning to office this year.
Was able to view Jan, Feb and Mar. in "real time".
Nov. pictured was only 1-1/2 weeks in office.
Retaining hope that life settles back into what normal will become in short order.

Been happily married now for over 34 years.
This is a recent pic from another necessary fix.....
As bad as it looks it is after Scoliosis correction surgery that happened in the late 70s when she was in her teens.
Without it back then she would not have survived her 20s.
Back curves, twists and also moves the chest cavity around affecting heart function.
She is 5'11". Estimation is 6'3" if proper.
I've always liked that perspective of rail lines leading off towards the horizon. Here's a couple more I have saved.

The pics of the RR tracks bring back memories of my youth. Up until about 7 the house we lived in was 2 houses away from a set of RR tracks. Back then, early 60's, there was a lot of traffic. Every couple of years they would bring in a steam locomotive to the depot that you could ride between Boise and Nampa. Quite an impressive site to a young guy watching that come down the tracks.

Surgeries to repair meniscus once and replace ACL twice.
All is good again. Rehab she worked up to 140lbs dead lift.
2 ft vertical jump starting games tells me all the pain endured worked.

Not mine. I grabbed the picture off a fb page.
Dodge never really did the Charger justice , the flagship Dodge only had a hood scoop 1 year while almost every other body style had scoops & to add insult they dipped the center of the hoods 68-70 so even a taller intake had trouble fitting .

Even up here in Canada we have some models and options that you couldn't get. Mostly cars in the 50's and 60's come to mind. Some had the same name as USA models but were totally different cars.
Real or not I'm liking that car in the moparts link. It would be fun to play with one of those someday. Cheaper than Ebodies for the most part but harder to gets parts for I'd imagine? But it's a convertible :)
No Hemis, convertibles, or sunroof conversions from LA
N95 seems to be a required option on any vehicle to be sold new in California but also seems to be able to have been ordered as a separate option (common story seems to be the buyer was under the mistaken impression it would be necessary if re-registering in California) Even LA built cars destined for other states typically wouldn't have N95

Stan Fox lived through a very similar looking crash at Indy in 1995. Unfortunately he did not return to racing after his crash.

Giving low-income workers a raise is a great idea...everybody like more money... :bigmoney:
The idea behind it is because they cannot afford to buy things considered necessities .... So if a company like McDonalds has to give all their employees a raise, guess how they counteract that ? They raise their prices of their items for everybody...So, the monetary raise means nothing when the cost of living goes up at the same time ? :looney:

Raising minimum is temporary improvement at best.
Minimum wage earners do not have savings. So every penny earned is put back into economy. Raised minimum immediately deposits more money into economy thru the spending. Then in short order everything else gets more expensive. Thus negating the gains.
Economic balance restores itself.
Of course we have inflation because we all have Central Banks who loan the government money. If Congress would manage the money supply, as is part of their original charter, we could quite borrowing it from the Federal Reserve, which is not a government entity.

2 things - first, I cant install these because I always thought it was 1/2 turn passed stripped and back off 1/4? Either that or it is a compression test plug and when it blows through the hood you know compression is fine

He drove up in this custom with a Banks twin turbocharged M47 V12 Hemi tank engine. Stated it puts out 1600 hp.
