Not the virus... But some "element" who failed to prepare may wish to take the stuff you have collected in preparation for your families survival....  Without guns and ammo you don't get to vote against their plan...

Pretty much the same here. Paper products gone. Meat counters empty-all Spam is gone- Schools closed-business closing-my wife's dentist office may shut down after today until April 1st. I am still working so far. This is all just a media based fear mongers create by the media. We have had far worse virus and flu's in the last 20 years and we had NONE of these problems.
NO I do not have a life time supply of toilet paper or food but I am well stocked on ammo--just in case. LOL

I had a specialist appointment that I've been waiting for, for five weeks....they just called and said that he'll call me at home to discuss my problem....LoL guess he just doesn't want to give up that Government pay check just yet... Dentist also cancelled the appointment I had this week...shame

SF and neighboring counties will be announcing shutdowns. SF Mayor will speak at 1 pm PST. The economy is screwed. People will get lay off soon. This is bad if you live on paycheck to paycheck and a lot of people in the Bay Area are like that due to high cost of living here.

Just went to the pet store here in Florida to get more food for my cat and there was a sign on the door that said "closed until virus under control"

Hey, we like friendly people too.. And can be very accommodating... But we also are prepared for those who have bad intent....   If you believe everyone truly only has good intentions than you've set yourself up to be a victim...  Momma & I won't be victims...   FWIW she's a better shot than I am.... And no one expects it....

So after 33 years of dodging high voltage, I'm planning retirement on June 1st. At that point I lose dental insurance, so I'm getting the white knuckle flights of grind and crown on three cracked back teeth. One done, one ground off with a temp crown, and a permanent crown slated for next week and the last to get ground and temp crown as well (in the same sitting)...and today they text me with this...

My wife and I were "pinch hitters" today for delivering Meals on Wheels so that the normal delivery teams that were at risk based on age could stay home.  Most of the clients are in their high 70's-80's and are still living in their homes but with limited social contact on a good day.   Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but a large number of them are absolutely in a panic about this virus.  We had to use a "no contact" approach for delivery:  they leave their door unlocked, we ring the bell, announce who we are, then place the meals on a table or on the floor by the door.  One of the clients has issues such that they can't really be on their own any more, but there's a tuberculosis (TB) test they have to pass before a nursing home will admit them.   Apparently all of the TB testing has been pushed back at least a month, so the client has to wait.   On the plus side, it was heartening to see one of their neighbors checking on them while we were there.
